This is for all the girls with problem skin!
If you’re a long-time reader, you know I’ve done a lot in the name of beauty writing. I’ve tried some products that didn’t agree with my skin and contracted rosacea, I’ve struggled with dry skin that was spreading all the way up to my eyes (sob!). I resided myself to the fact that my skin would always be sensitive, sting a little, have breakouts and that every foundation I used would just cling to my skin.
After going through all that, seeing a doctor and feeling very sorry for myself, I’ve finally done it. I’ve finally achieved the skin I never thought I’d have! All it took was a bit of experimentation with my routine.
What works.
Firstly, most importantly, cleansing my skin every night really works. At first, I chose the cheapest cleanser I could find which stripped my skin and hurt pretty bad. I now use Micellar Water to cleanse my skin because I don’t need to do it over the sink and I’m lazy at heart.
The new step I’ve started to include is after Celina’s recommendation. It’s the Weleda Skin Food Moisturizer (which we’ve already confessed our love for!). But to be honest, I really thought this wouldn’t be good for my skin when I first picked it up. It smells quite fragrant, so I assumed it would have some kind of perfume in it and not be good for sensitive skin. I was so wrong. I put a small dot of moisturizer on my cheeks, nose, chin and forehead before bed.
When I wake up I splash my face with cold water and apply my favorite hydrating primer. This time of year can be harsh and drying for skin, so I like to apply the jelly to my skin and wait for it to dry.
Sticking to a strict routine has really improved my skin, and being careful about what I put on it. Even using some all-natural products irritated my skin, so finding out what really works has been amazing.
