I love sitting down with a good movie, especially after a stressful week. My favorite movies inspire me to keep going and reward me with the knowledge that to be the best, you need to work hard. From tear-jerkers to comedies, I look for movies that have life lessons and will motivate me to do something with my weekend.
With that said, here are a few of my favorites!
Legally Blonde
One of my all time favorite movies ever. A fun uplifting story about Elle Woods who is so in love she decides to go to Law school to steal her man back. However, she ends up proving everyone wrong and demonstrates determination, power, and motivation to make the most out of every situation and reach your potential, no matter what anyone else thinks.
The Pursuit Of Happyness
Get a box of tissues prior to watching this. This film has to be one of the most inspirational films. A film that shows what true persistence is. Chris does everything in his power to provide shelter and comfort for his son, through hardship and motivation he refuses to give in and quit, instead he picks himself up each time and eventually everything pays off. “Don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something. You want something, go get it. Period.”
Billy Elliot
Fighting for your dreams, no matter what the odds are against you are. If you have a dream and believe in yourself, what else is actually stopping you? Billy shows how important motivation and willingness is within the journey to your goals. Never allow society, friends or family dictate what you should or shouldn’t do, go for your dreams 110% and allow your passion to fly.
Erin Brockovich
This is a powerhouse of a movie, and it’s based on a true story! Twice-divorced mom Erin struggles to find a job, pay her bills and be taken seriously. She gets a job as a file-clerk and uncovers a pretty sinister cover-up. Unable to let it go, she launches an investigation and the trial she causes results in the largest settlement ever paid in a direct-action suit. Erin’s character is tough, determined, lovable and fierce. We love her.
The Karate Kid
I think this is a good film to watch if you struggle to stay on track and stay focused. If you have a goal, set it. Think of the steps that must be completed to get there, take small steps but always move forward. A true classic!
The Hunger Games
If you’re a big Hunger Games fan like myself, you will probably agree that Katniss Everdeen is an inspirational character who is brave, intelligent and reliable, all characteristics we should work towards. She follows her heart and speaks up for those who can’t. We should be inspired to make a difference, no matter how big or small, as long as it benefits those around us.
