Finding the perfect nude lipstick is much harder than it sounds! What exactly is your skin tone, do you have warm or cool undertones, is your lip-tone different from your skin tone?
There are so many questions to answer in the quest to find that elusive perfect nude. But once you do, it’s not an exaggeration to say that it will change your (makeup) life. It’s just as important as finding your perfect shade of foundation, or that mascara that doesn’t smudge, it will make morning makeup decisions much easier!
And the best part is, that with our tips the perfect nude is in reach!
1. Find your skin tone
Who knows what undertones you really have? Sure we’ve all got pink undertones after a session in the gym, and we all seem to have cool undertones when were freezing cold! But the real way to check whether you have blue undertones or warm, yellow undertones is to look at your wrists.
Although all wrist veins look blue if you take a moment to have a proper look you might notice that they actually have a greenish hue, which means you have warm undertones. If they look a true blue color then you have cool undertones. Now you know, it’s important to stick to a lipstick with the same undertones as your skin.
2. Find your lipstick undertones
Now you know what undertones your skin color has, you need to work out what undertones a lipstick has. To do this swipe a lipstick on the inside of your wrist. If it has cool undertones the lipstick will look bluer at the edges, and if not, the shade has warm undertones.
Now you know how to work out which nude is right for you, here’s some advice on which colors to go for based on your skin tone.
Very fair
Very fair skin has a translucent quality to it. Never go for the same shade as your skin tone, look for warm undertones and go for a shade or two darker than your skin tone to add color to your face.
