Five morning moments every girl needs!

Everybody likes a lie in and morning’s can be hard work if you don’t get enough sleep. It can be impossible to convince yourself to actually get up, especially if you’re doling out your precious time for a shower, choosing your outfit and doing your makeup and hair. But it’s important to make the most of your mornings, they can help determine the rest of your day and lay foundations for better habits and a more productive week. If you’re struggling to make the most of your mornings, here’s five morning moments every girl needs!

#1 Water
It’s important to rehydrate yourself after a night’s sleep. So as well as splashing your face with cold water, you should try to drink some. Add some sliced fruit to your water and put it in the fridge overnight for a delicious and healthy drink in the morning.

#2 Breakfast
Never underestimate the importance of breakfast. It stops you having hunger pangs before lunch and can give you a burst of energy for the rest of the day. Make sure you have a breakfast packed with nutrients and vital ingredients to give you a spring in your step for the rest of the day.

#3 Stretches
If you’re so inclined, doing some brief stretches in the morning will help limber you up for the rest of the day. Use an app like Yoga Studio to do stretches at home, it gets the blood pumping, improves your posture and can banish a number of health problems.

#4 Visualise
Take a moment to think about the day ahead of you and focus on the positives. Even if you’re dreading the day ahead, think of all the little happinesses ahead of you and try to make sure you’re feeling good about this day.

#5 Socialise
It’s nice to get some chatting done in the morning, you don’t want to be boxed off with colleagues all day feeling anxious and stressed, so don’t compromise your socialisation. Having a giggle in the morning can help you relax and realise it’s not the end of the world if you have a bad day!

  1. Mornings have definitely become my favorite time of the day since I quit my job, I use them to recharge for the working from home day ahead!

  2. I really used to struggle but now I love mornings! I find myself sitting in bed and listening to some music or even the radio, just for 10mins or so before actually having to get up.

  3. I know it’s unhealthy to look at your phone first thing in the morning, but nothing gets me more awake and excited for the day than checking my email and seeing what has popped in overnight! That, and an immediate cup of green tea with sliced lemon. Yum :)

  4. Wow so much I’ve been denying myself! I do meditate before I actually get out of bed most mornings. Mostly its some meditation like working on my chakras or vipassana or just plain old breathing exercises and some visualisation which I love. I potter about a lot then rush to get myself ready for work with an obligatory cup of tea or 2. I mean the sugar and milk variety. None of the healthy options for moi. Tetley all the way.

    I have a quick shower and oil myself fast then brush my hair. Then comes makeup which can be close to nothing or the full works, depending on how I feel etc.

    Breakfast usually waits till I get to work were a cereal awaits with some fruit and almond milk. Coffee and a croissant or a Danish.

    Water, stretching is obviously next on my list…….or maybe just water!

  5. I used to never eat breakfast in the morning but when I got out into the “working world” I realized that it was essential because it would be a long time before lunch.

  6. I need to practise no.5!! I am a very chatty person, but in the morning its just so hard! Literally on a handful of occasions I have gotten up for a morning run and I felt amazing for the rest of the day!!! It just so hard to commit to this one – ha!

  7. Great post! I wrote one (in French) on my blog, describing my 7 steps for a good start in the day. To the list in this post I would add : read something inspiring and listen to a good sound track that gives you energy while getting ready (singing in the shower is a bonus).

  8. I love the fact that mornings are getting lighter now, it makes it so much easier to get up and feel more awake! Also puts you in a good mood for the rest of the day when the suns out!
