HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training and it works a lot better than traditional endurance exercises because it raises your heart rate and then allows you to rest. The idea behind these exercises is that you should work as hard as you can for a certain amount of time, rest and then repeat. It will give your metabolism a little jump start AND let you burn calories throughout the day. We know you girls want to be healthy with minimal fuss, so this workout will absolutely kick your butt. Our #CGDsquad shows you how it’s done!
Under 7-minute HIIT workout
Do as many reps of each exercise as you can for 1 minute and then rest for 20 seconds before the next exercise.
Jumping jacks
Start with your feet together and your hands down by your side, jump your feet out to the side and raise your arms above your head in one motion, then jump back to the starting position.
Crunches
Put your feet flat on the floor with your knees bent, lie flat, put your hands behind your head and lift your abdominal muscles gently (don’t use your arms to lift your body). Hold the position so that your head, neck and shoulder blades are off the floor.
Plank (hold one for 1 minute)
Get into a press-up position, bend your elbows and rest your weight on your forearms. Keep your body in a straight line and suck in your belly button. Hold for 1 minute.
High knees
Stand straight with your feet hip-width apart, look straight ahead and jump from one foot to the other while lifting your knees as high as possible.
Squats
Stand with your feet apart, and lower down as if sitting. Go as low as possible as if sitting on an invisible chair and put your arms out in front of you if it helps. Straighten your legs and repeat the movement.
