Everybody gets dark circles. The skin under our eyes is thin, making it transparent. You can see the underlying blood vessels much more clearly, even if you’ve had enough sleep. Dermatologists know that the darkness is usually just a result of pigmentation and not an indication of anything wrong with your lifestyle.

Hayley Goldbach, a resident physician in dermatology at UCLA told the BBC that edema can also lead to bags under your eyes that look a touch more puffy. This is usually caused by a salt-heavy meal before bed, so try to avoid that. Here are a few tips I swear by to banish mine in literally next to no time.
While you sleep: Prevent dark circles
I love wearing an eye mask while I sleep. My bedroom is far too light not to use an eye mask, but the normal masks I use make me wake up with lines on my face. Not cool. I’ve actually discovered there are smart eye masks that actually improve your skin and your eyes while you sleep. This mask covers your eyes and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles. The mask is made of 100% pure silk which helps to smooth and plump your skin with continuous effect over time. Slip For Beauty Sleep. Available here
First thing: Give your eyes a massage
Everyone knows it takes some time to apply serum and give yourself a good eye massage, in the morning we don’t have that kind of time. Clinique has invented a pretty genius eye massager with a serum that will reduce your eye bags in a matter of seconds. I now use this first thing to make me feel more awake and prepare my eyes for makeup, there is literally nothing like the cooling feeling in the morning. Clinique All About Eyes Serum. Available here
Before makeup: Use a color corrector
A quick swipe of a next level color corrector before you use your concealer will counteract any residing darkness and make you feel seriously refreshed. Urban Decay’s series of color correcting concealers are seriously popular, they have staying power but blend easily so you don’t have to worry about having peach colored under eyes all day. While doing makeup: Be wise with your concealer
When it comes to concealer, you should choose something that’s light reflecting and hydrating. I think It Cosmetics has really hit the nail on the head with this concealer. You can use it all over the face but it really packs a punch under your eyes, it’s waterproof too, which is a huge selling point. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full-Coverage Concealer

I then apply the rest of my makeup, including foundation, and blend it all out with a beauty blender, being careful to pat not tug or rub on my eye area. They’ve disappeared in under 30 minutes, which is perfect for a morning rush! What do you swear by? I’d love to know.
