Lazy Sunday? Forgot the gym today? No problem, according to research done by Jason Dyck from the University of Alberta in Canada one glass of red wine equals one hour of exercise.
Dyck and his team discovered that red wine contains resveratrol, a compound which is also released in the body after 1 hour of exercise.
Reservatrol is good for the heart, physical health and muscles while also decreasing the chances of cancer and dementia. Jason Dyck stated:
”I think resveratrol could help patient populations who want to exercise but are physically incapable. Resveratrol could mimic exercise for them or improve the benefits of the modest amount of exercise that they can do.”
Unfortunately this does not mean you can cancel your gym contract or that 6 glasses of wine equal 6 hours of working out. Red wine remains alcohol so should be consumed in moderation.

Dear CGD
I’ve come across your blog and honestly love your career tips. However I am I little sadden to find this on here…
It is true that they found that resveratrol equals this but in rats. For this to have the same affect in humans we need to drink over 2000 bottles of red wine to achieve the same ratio of resveratrol and body weight as the rats.
Careful what we read – long way between the science and the media..
Kind regards and still a CGD reader.

Thanks for your advice Maria!
