Lauren Conrad announced that certain words will be banned from her website in a bid to stop negative body image from being associated with being fit and healthy.

This month Lauren has launched the theme ‘Shape Up’, sharing tips, tricks, and recipes to help her readers get in shape. Following the announcement of June’s theme, she has also banned the words ‘skinny’, ‘slim’ and ‘thin’ from the website.
“When we’ve talked about getting in shape in the past, words like ‘skinny,’ ‘slim,’ and ‘thin’ have often come up,” she wrote. “Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like ‘fit’ ‘toned,’ and ‘healthy.'”
Lauren wants people to focus on feeling fit and healthy, rather than the number on the scale. She wants girls to realise that everyone is built differently, and all body shapes and sizes are unique, but if you want to become healthy and strong, then do it! If your motivation is to become ‘skinny’ rather than to strengthen and tone what you already have, you’re probably working out for the wrong reasons. This just makes me like her even more. We all come in different shapes and sizes, and always will no matter how fit and healthy and happy we are. I may just have to sign up for the challenge – I always aim to be the best version of me.
