Ok, so Veganuary is actually over, but how many of you were a little clueless as to what it was or why you should try it? It may be a scary prospect going Vegan, no more Ben&Jerry;s, no more meaty fry ups for breakfast and most definitely no more chicken nuggets at 4am, but really as long as you are clever about it, you won’t feel deprived at all. Doesn’t sound very believable I know, but just hear me out before you reach for a bacon sandwich!
You will be glowing
There are numerous reports and even scientific evidence to prove that dairy is the number one cause of severe to moderate acne (Source), ditching cows milk doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy your morning cereal, try almond milk instead, it’s much tastier and so much better for you
You can still eat out
So you may not be spoiled for choice but there are now vegan options in more restaurants than you may think, meaning you won’t be scrutinizing the menu or the poor waiter!
It’s incredibly good for you
Forget eating 5 a day, with a Vegan diet you could easily double that. All those delicious fruit and vegetable based meals typically mean lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure and a much lower risk of facing a major health concern later in life. Vegans also typically have much more energy so you can feel and look amazing.
It’s cruelty-free
Even if it’s not your number one reason for going Vegan it sure is a nice thought knowing that you could help animals and prevent them from suffering, it’s all well and good being oblivious to the well-being of the animals we like to eat but you may have a different view if you knew the extent of the suffering some of them have to go through, worth thinking about.
You could save money
A plant-based diet is generally much cheaper than a meat based one, rice and beans go a lot further and can be made in bulk so you can stock up on lunches or dinner for the week without spending a fortune.
