What is matcha?
I have grown up with matcha, so for me, I’ve always had a basic idea of what it is, but most people don’t actually know! Matcha is a stone ground powdered tea which was introduced in the 8th century for its ‘medical remedies and ability to make life complete’. But we’re now putting matcha in just about everything, even chefs are putting it in soups!

What makes it different from regular green tea?
The Beauty Chef Inner Beauty Matcha Powder available here.
Matcha green tea has the equivalent of ten cups of normal green tea in antioxidant levels. Matcha contains three times more ECGC (epigallocatechin gallate) than normal green tea, a major antioxidant! So this is going to help with your complexion and weight loss! But because matcha is ground down to a fine powder you are getting one hundred percent of the leaf. Whereas with normal green tea, you’re steeping the leaves in water, meaning the benefits are stewing in the water. The matcha offers a higher concentration of the benefits of the leaf!
Give me that glow…

Fat buster
Matcha does not only boost your metabolism but actually helps to burn fat! This vibrant green tea’s antioxidants will boost your metabolism, especially if you are about to do any exercise, enhancing your weight loss! But ECGC helps to actually stop the growth of fat cells! But swapping out coffee for green tea will help to stop you from drinking all that sugar and cream! Meaning you are cutting out calories you would usually be drinking. Matcha will soar your energy levels, so why look at coffee ever again? Matcha lattes are the way to go!
How you can drink it…
Hum Raw Beauty Mint Chocolate Chip Infusion available here.
I am personally a fan of a mint choc chip match smoothie in the morning. It’s super delicious and easy to make. You can use a powder like this one from Hum, it’s sweet (and good for you!) and you can blend it with milk and cacao nibs. For a hot treat, using one teaspoon of matcha powder, add to half a cup of warm water, and whisk! Then add half a cup of your hot milk of choice, I like to use soy milk or rice milk. Stir well! Use a handheld frother for a more creamy and frothy texture!
