I’ll be honest, I’m all about staying healthy and being realistic with my goals. I hate to see people making unhealthy goals because they want to ‘lose weight fast’ because it’s not attainable. But I also know that there are times when you’re wondering how to lose weight fast. It’s not ideal but you just want to get back into that dress again. The best kind of weight loss is the kind that happens effortlessly, as the result of a better lifestyle that makes you feel better before you even think about whether you look better.
It’s always better to keep your own health in mind when you’re setting weight loss goals! Here are a few tips that actually work…
Step 1: Cut those fad diets!
The first thing you need to do is be realistic and stop yourself before you embrace any crazy diet or fad. Setting a huge goal for a short space of time will only lead to disappointment. Focus on smaller, achievable goals. Honestly, if you give yourself a few pounds to lose here and there, it’ll add up!
You need to love and appreciate yourself first before you can lose weight healthily and focus on your mindset and your mood before everything else. If you’re healthy and happy, everything from your hair to the whites of your eyes will shine, and that’s what matters most. If I ever want to lose some pounds, I start with a lifestyle overhaul, stocking up on supplements again and figuring out where I fell off the wagon (usually it’s all the junk food!) before I move on. Another important thing to do before you start is to ban all negative self-talk. It’s demotivating and will not help you get in shape.
Step 2: Get your food delivered!
Hello Fresh has literally changed my life. I pay a flat fee a week (much less than my weekly shopping would be) and I get everything delivered on a Sunday for the following week. Each recipe comes with the exact amount of ingredients, down to the single bay leaf we needed for a pasta recipe, and it tells you all the nutritional information on a menu card. I’ve been raving about it all week in the office because it’s saving me so much money and effort, and helping me stay away from unhealthy alternatives!
Step 3: Activate your metabolism
The science says that in the short term, caffeine boosts the metabolic rate and increases fat burning. But the downside is you become tolerant over time. Meaning that if you’re a regular coffee drinker, taking a break from it might be the best thing for your metabolism.
It’s good to wake up your system with a cup of coffee in the morning, you can even make it a super healthy coffee with your avocado and toast and know that it’s keeping your metabolism in check!
Step 4: Make your workout work for you
Even when you try your best to move, after a hard day at work all you want to do is chill on the couch at home. I’m guilty of that, but it doesn’t help you lose weight or get in shape faster. Over the years I’ve learned a few tricks to get my butt back into gear and start working out. Start with trying to reach 10,000 steps a day, and when you’re not walking use a skipping rope for 30 minutes. You can skip in front of the TV if you want, and eventually, the time goes so fast you won’t even realize you were working out.
If you’re unlikely to motivate yourself, you should definitely consider a service like Class Pass. I honestly lost so much weight just going to a once a week class with my friends where we’d competitively workout around each other. And collectively groan through the pain. Signing up for a class makes you so much more motivated to actually get up and go.
