How She Did It: Jess Glynne’s Secrets To Her Massive Success

Chances are you’ve heard of Jess Glynne. If not, you’re definitely familiar with her very distinctive voice. She is currently in joint first place with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini for the most number one hits by any British solo female artists showing that she is a very successful career girl who is at the top of her game. Here is how she did it.

‘SHE KNOWS THE POWER OF COLLABORATION:’

Three of Jess’s chart topping hits have been collaborative achievements with Tinie Tempah, Clean Bandit and Route 94. By collaborating with these established artists, she recognised that as well as keeping her own identity through her music, collaborating was a way to showcase the adaptability of her voice, which increased her popularity.

‘SHE KEPT TRYING’:

After being rejected from the X factor at the age of 15, Jess didn’t give up on her dream of becoming a chart-topping musician. Although her success didn’t follow an upward trajectory, she didn’t let failure stop her from achieving her dreams.

‘SHE WORKED HER WAY UP’:

After finishing school, Jess worked in various jobs including in a boutique and a fitness centre before landing a job in the music industry. Despite this, success didn’t happen for her immediately. She started from the bottom and worked her way up. This gave her the chance to network with producers and songwriters, some of which she would eventually work with in the future, whilst perfecting her singing,

‘SHE DID HER RESEARCH’:

As well as networking with songwriters and producers, Jess enrolled herself onto a year long course at the British Academy of New Music, a course which introduced her to some of her future collaborators like Jin Jin. She researched her field and used the time to hone her skills in readiness for when she would become a fully fledged artist.

‘SHE STAYED HUMBLE’:

Once success happened for Jess, she didn’t let this get to her head. She remained the hard working, humble girl next door she has always been, which makes her very loveable.

‘SHE’S RELATABLE’:

Jess’ music is relatable. Every song on her solo album “I Cry When I Laugh” tells a different story about what she has been through, including love and heart break – things that we can all relate to at some point in our lives. Rather than making us all wallow in self pity, Jess’ upbeat and eclectic vibe makes everything seem better!
