This Is How The World’s Most Successful Women Spend The Weekends

My career is my passion, so working round the clock is something that just feels natural to me. My weekdays are so full to the brim that when it comes to the weekends I’m more than ready to have a break and switch off. But that doesn’t mean to say it always works out like that.

Successful women seem like they can juggle it all. Somehow, these women balance their high powered careers, their businesses, families and still find the time to touch in with their passions outside of work too. They know, more than most, that their time is precious so they use it wisely. Want to see how they do it all? I know I do…

Beyonce

It should be no surprise to you that Mrs. Carter is an absolute workaholic. Her sister, Solange, has even been quoted to say that the star has always been a “type-A personality” and a “workaholic” ever since they were children, claiming that Beyonce sang a line over and over again until it was perfect.

And in her later years, it’s true to say that Beyonce definitely has not slowed down. However, she recognizes this and since having children has been forced into finding a healthy balance that allows her to live her life more and pay attention to all the small things.

“The one thing I’m trying to learn is time management. It’s the hardest thing for me.”

6 days out 7 Beyonce works, she makes sure to take one dedicated day a week where she can spend her time completely committed to family. Because her week can be, let’s just say, intense Beyonce describes that all she wants to do with her downtime is to “drop my shoes, and that’s it.” She’ll wake up early, start the day by showing gratitude, giving thanks to God and doing her everyday ritual of breathing out anxiety and inhaling positivity.

Meghan Markle

The new Duchess does in fact, have quite a busy schedule. But that doesn’t stop her from relaxing just like a Princess with her Prince on the weekend. They start their weekends off with some exercise, they are both energetic, athletic individuals and like to share this time together while they stay healthy.

Meghan, herself is an avid runner and used to run around Kensington Gardens until she was given somewhere more private away from onlookers. Aside from this, she likes to finish with some yoga, which she has been a fan of for years. Read Meghan’s rules for success here.

“I don’t sit around thinking about my titles and roles; I just do what feels right.”

In her afternoons, you’ll probably find Meghan in some chic Soho restaurant like Bocca di Lupo either with Tanya Burr or Millie Mackintosh, whom she has made friends with since her move to the UK.

In the evenings, you’ll find the pair cuddled up on the couch in their cozy, modest two-bedroom home watching a movie, or binge-watching a movie on Netflix. Who’d have thought we’d be so similar?

Gretchen Rubin

@businessinsider

She’s one of the world’s highly acclaimed writers, her latest book is Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives, which will show you how you can decode your habits to change them for the better.

“What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.”

And being the lady who knows how to inject happiness into her life means she certainly knows how to spend her weekends. She, herself, has designed many weekly rituals that will help you get the most out of every weekend, rather than watching it slip away quickly.

For example, every weekend will include just one Power Hour. This Power Hour is your time to focus on the tasks that are at the bottom of your to-do lists aka the ones that drag you down and never, ever get done.

But Gretchen points out that these tasks are the quickest ones to do. So, she uses her Power Hours to just get it out the way, or eat the elephant as they say. To do this yourself, Gretchen suggests to just write a list of all the tasks you want to do that have no deadline and do one each Power Hour.

Serena Williams

Serena is no stranger to hard work, in fact, she rarely slows down. There’s always something else this star can do and she’s always determined to do it. So, when it comes to what she does with her spare time can vary. Now, a mother, Serena finds herself in a position to find that ultimate balance and slow down just enough not to miss a beat.

On a weekend she has breakfast at 7 AM followed by tennis practice. Her weekend is full of high energy activities like dance classes and strength training. Late into the evening she’ll do social media and work that requires a computer, and she usually struggles to get to sleep because she has so much energy.

“Don’t let anybody work harder than you do.”

Not wanting to let her career and passions slip, Serena makes sure to still check in with her prior commitments on the weekends.

This includes being on the board of Survey Market. But when she does decide to take a little break, you’ll find her reading her favorite author Maya Angelou, winding down and watching movies or simply being a mother to her daughter Alexis, who is just eight months old.

Tory Burch

You can say that Tory lives somewhat of a picturesque life. And she may be a businesswoman in the week, but when it comes to the weekends she rushes to the beach with her kids and soaks in every last moment.

Like Victoria, Tory will wake up early on the weekend, somewhere around 7 AM and makes sure to keep her mornings as peaceful as possible. She’s in love with the outdoors, so on the weekend she’ll keep her style simple, throw on some pieces from her Tory Sport collection and start her morning in the garden.

She describes herself as not the most talented gardener, but there’s nowhere else she’d rather be. Because she finds it very therapeutic, she will garden to arrive 11 AM until her kids rise and they run off into the ocean for a quick, refreshing dip.

“I’ve learned time management, organization and I have priorities.”

After a day spent fishing, surfing, and crabbing, Tory will spend the evening watching movies with her kids. To wind down she lights her Westerly scented candle in a jasmine, gardenia, and pink pepper blend runs her bath with rose oil and falls asleep all before midnight.

Victoria Beckham

@victoriabeckham

Just because it’s a weekend, it doesn’t stop Victoria from waking up at 6 AM. Being a mother has kept her away from lay-ins and she always makes sure to be up before her kids so they’re ready to start the day right. Read more about how Victoria Beckham stays mindful on the go here.

Once she’s out of bed, showered and dressed, Victoria will make sure to refresh her email list and check any emails that have come through whilst she was sleeping. Like the rest of the women, Victoria knows the importance of family and will dedicate much of her spare time to her kids.

“…the children always come first, making sure that I am at the school plays, that I’m a teacher in the evenings.”

But that’s not the only people she dedicates her time to. We all know of Victoria and David’s relationship – hell, we’re jealous of it. The two are one of the world’s famous couples and the reason they are still together is that they take the time to be with each other. So whatever chance she gets she makes sure they get some alone time together, because, at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about right?
