Of course, we all want to be healthy and live longer, and working out will help you do that. Not only will you stay in shape, you’ll boost your mood and beat anxiety and stress. But we know there are days (and weeks) when you’re so busy that you can’t schedule in time to even go for a quick walk.
Luckily there are ways you can speed up your metabolism without a hardcore workout, here are a few tips to do just that.
1. Don’t Skip Breakfast
Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day! Our metabolism slows down whenever it’s inactive so whenever you skip breakfast your body won’t burn as many calories as it could until lunchtime.
2. Eat Good Carbs
Opt for whole grains, fruits, and vegetables and stay away from refined carbs, like white bread and potatoes. White carbs raise your insulin levels and might impact your metabolic rate.
3. Spice Up Your Meals
According to a study carried out by Laval University in Canada, hot peppers can temporarily boost your metabolism as they stimulate your body to release more hormones that increase our ability to burn calories.
4. Get more omegas
Eating lots of fish like salmon, herring, and tuna can help speed up your metabolism. Omega-3s balance your blood sugar and reduce inflammation. They may also reduce resistance to leptin, which is linked to how fast fat is burned.
5. Have A Good Night Sleep
A lack of sleep can impact your metabolism as it causes you to burn less calories and messes up the hormones that help regulate our appetite. Instead, aim for a good 7.5 hours of sleep every night! Check out our guide to help you get better sleep if you need it.
