It’s January, which means everyone you know is on a health kick. But what about those people who stay fit all year round. What do they do differently? They must think about fitness in a different way, not as something to do when you want to get in shape fast, but something that you do as part of your life. So do you want to know how to get motivated to exercise? Here are a few you should try to incorporate!

1. They do it because of how it makes them feel

If you ask those who love to exercise why they stick to it, the main answer you will get it “I feel so good once I’ve done a workout, I feel better about myself, more confident”. Scales mean nothing. Weight loss becomes a byproduct of exercise, the key outcomes are your confidence will grow, skin will glow and you will become happier within yourself.

2. They fit in a workout even if they are crazy busy

Now, no one is telling you to set the alarm at 5 AM and get to the gym, very few people can actually do this. I tried and was knackered for the next 3 days. You do not need to fit in a 5-mile run every day, but, we should try and do 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Come home from work and walk around the fields with a friend or do some exercises at home. Remember working out does not always have to mean being inside a gym.

3. They know that eating clean doesn’t have to be boring

I know what your thinking, clean eating = rabbit food?! There would not be so many fitness lovers if this was true, go onto your Instagram and follow some fitness motivators and you’ll see how amazing clean eating can actually be! A new way of cooking that can be cheap, easy and taken on the go without creating a big fuss!

4. They change it up

There is nothing worse than going to the gym doing the same thing again and again, chances are we would have canceled our membership in a matter of weeks. Plan what muscles you want to work each session. Cardio is great for general fitness, muscle toning, and fat burning, try and fit this in for at least 10 minutes each session. You will then be warm and raring to go. Think arms, legs, core, and back.

5. They have a kick-ass playlist

No gym lover goes to the gym without music and headphones. Music is a great motivator if you are at the gym by yourself (also prevents you hearing how much you’re struggling on the running machine!!). Build up a workout playlist full of your favorite songs and you will automatically work harder and stay in the gym longer.

I try to do 30 minutes a day- for example if I want to watch a TV program I’ll say to myself I can’t watch it unless I am working out at the same time! x
