How I Get Ready For A Big Event In One Week



This diary was the week of the Career Girl Academy. The Academy was our first big event on the 27th November, so I decided to change my lifestyle in preparation. It wasn’t as hard as I thought, so read on to find out how I got on . . .

During a week as hectic as this, I think having a healthy body and mind is really important. I’ll be trying to eat clean, workout four times and try to schedule three relaxing moments. Read on to find out how to get ready for a big event.

Day 1: Create A Plan

This week is gonna be a busy week. Our team is working hard on our first Career Girl Academy and things are a very busy and hectic at the moment. To deal with all the stress, I’ve decided to change my lifestyle a bit I am creating a ‘beauty/health’ plan for the upcoming week as I want to look and feel my best next week. This is also the perfect moment for me to test out the new Philips Sonicare as it promises whiter teeth in one week. As I’m giving a presentation I would love to have a bright white smile.

It’s actually the first time I’m using an electrical toothbrush, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how clean my teeth feel. It basically feels like you went to the dentist. Before I go to the office I do the 32 minute no equipment workout routine. It’s a great workout and makes you really break a sweat. I try to finish a whole bottle of mineral water, take my daily health supplement from Equi London and eat clean.

Breakfast: 2 Rice Waffles with peanut butter and 1 banana
Lunch: Salmon, Brown rice and Broccoli
Dinner: Chicken breast, Sweet Potato Mash + Fine Beans
Snack: Rice Waffle with peanut butter and a bit of honey


I take special skincare supplement every morning and make sure to moisturize my skin every morning and evening. That’s it, nothing special as I think great skin starts from within.



Day 2: A HITT YouTube Workout

On Tuesday I get up at 07.00 and drink a glass of lukewarm water with lemon juice. Then I start my YouTube workout, have breakfast and go to work. I have meetings all day. In the evening, I want to try to the deep cleanse function on my Philips Sonicare Toothbrush. This function delivers an exceptional clean in hard-to-reach places.

The unique motion of the brush head in this mode, plus an extended three-minute brushing time makes it the ideal choice when you want to pay extra attention to trouble spots. Which leaves me with super clean teeth.

Breakfast: Oatmeal, almond milk, banana and honey
Lunch: Salad with Salmon + quinoa salad
Dinner: Lasagne made from Courgette
Snack: Rice Waffle Crisps + strawberries

Looking back. I must say I felt really energetic this day. The workout in the morning gave me a huge energy boost.


I give myself a Gankin massage in the morning and in the evening. Results last 12 hours and it gives your firmer and more glowing skin. Just what I need before the big event.



Day 3: Drink Enough Water

I wake up at 06.30 and have a glass of lukewarm water with lemon and go to the gym. Today I am doing a 30-minute run. After my workout, I walk back home and take a quick shower. My teeth still feel clean from the deep cleanse the night before and I discovered you can put the toothbrush in a special UV sanitizer. You can basically clean your brush head with the UV sanitizer for optimal cleanliness. (smart)

I have breakfast, order an Uber and get off to workout. To keep myself hydrated I put a 1-liter bottle of water on my desk and snack on strawberries while the day passes by. Time flies because we are really busy.

When I get home I work a couple of hours on the event and do some yoga to relax and clear my mind before going to bed

Day 4: Try A Facial Massage

On day four I decided to download the special Philips Sonicare app. You can connect this app via Bluetooth onto your phone and you can check your progress. So for instance, I want to have whiter teeth for the event, so that’s my main focus. The app also shows you when you’re putting too much pressure or which place in your mouth needs more attention. Cool right!

Breakfast: Rice Waffles with peanut butter and banana
Lunch: Salmon, Brown rice and Broccoli
Dinner: Grilled salmon with asparagus
Snack: Rice Waffle with peanut butter and a bit of honey


I do my daily Gankin Massage and use a deep cleansing clay face mask. It tingles a bit but leaves me with soft and glowy skin after.



Day 5: Green Juice Energy Boosters

I stayed up working till 01.30 last night and start the day feeling very tired. Duty calls and I need to go to work. I don’t have time to have breakfast and grab a hot chocolate and a chicken sandwich while I get to work. Oh well, sometimes you are allowed to indulge as long as it’s not every day. I drink some green juice energy boosters during the day and get my eating pattern back on track.

I think it’s very important to eat right, exercise and plan some relaxing moments in, especially during a week as busy as this.

In the evening I have my Philips Sonicare ritual and I notice my teeth definitely feel cleaner. This morning I tried brushing with a normal toothbrush but I seriously can’t anymore. I also decided to try the tongue cleanser. You can attach it to the toothbrush and it automatically cleanses your tongue. This is really helpful.

Breakfast: Hot chocolate + a huge chicken sandwich
Lunch: 2 rice waffles, banana, and peanut butter
Dinner: Mushroom risotto
Snack: strawberries with greek yogurt



Day 6: Massive Prep Day

It’s Saturday today and I treat myself on a lie in, then I get dressed. I put my Philips Sonicare on whitening mode today and use the special mouth spray after so I feel extra fresh. I have a meeting with Ellen today at the Hoxton Holborn. After I have a mani/pedi a beauty appointment and get a Brazilian blowout. It feels like a special reward to spoil myself the day before. Our Career Girl Academy is tomorrow and I am already feeling super nervous!

I am so excited to finally meet some of our readers and create an unforgettable day.

I use a thick and extra rich moisturizer before going to bed.

Day 7: The Big Day

The day is finally here! The day of the Career Girl Academy. Ellen and I have to wake up at 05.00 and we went to bed at 01.00. 4 hours of sleep! How am I going to survive this? Is what I am asking myself.

We don’t have time for breakfast. So I grab a banana and have some coffee. Hop in the shower and I use the Philips Sonicare in whitening mode again. I give myself a Gankin massage to reduce the puffiness. I get dressed – sneakers, hair in a bun and a comfy jumper + I bring a massive bottle of water with me.

Our car picks us up at 06.00 to go to the Hoxton and then it’s time to set everything up, go into make-up and meet the rest of the team. The makeup artist compliments me on my glowing skin. So I have been doing something right this week!

As today is a really busy day I have almost no time to eat, I am also super nervous so I have no appetite as the adrenaline is going through my body. I try to have lunch and snack on some canapes later that day. At the end, I have some cocktails with the team.

Breakfast: Banana + Coffee
Lunch: Salmon Burger & Salad
Dinner: – (really bad I know)
Snack: Canapes and cocktails to celebrate the event!


One of the things that stood me by most was that I felt really energetic this week. I had a clear mind and was able to work under high pressure. On the day itself, my skin looked really great. A great complexion starts from within and your mood can be really affected by what you put in your body.

Also, my teeth are a bit whiter now. I must say this toothbrush really works and I am still using it every day. Although Philips sent me this Sonicare to test it out and share my honest thoughts with our readers. I am seriously a fan and I am not planning to use a normal toothbrush again.The feeling after using the Sonicare brush is like you’ve just gone to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned and the app is just genius to keep track of your brushing habits!
