Oh, that party season was so much fun! But all those sparkling cocktails, the late night dancing, the lack of sleep, and a poorly practised skincare routine (who had the time for that?!) has left its toll on our skin. Now, it looks sallow and dull. Our eyes are so puffy. And those dark circles as huge as a mountains! We need a plan to get it back into top shape – fast! Here’s how:
DIY facial
Facial are a great and relaxing way to boost skin. And they can be easily done at home too. Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser, such as Cetaphil, to remove all the impurities that have accumulated on your face during the day. Then, steam your face to help the active ingredients in your skincare products to better penetrate into the skin.
Next, apply an exfoliating peel to slough off those pesky dead cells that are dulling your complexion. Our favourite is Paula’s Choice Resist Weekly Resurfacing Treatment with 10% AHA. It contains glycolic acid, which can also boost collagen production and hydrate skin.
Finally, it’s time to moisturize. To avoid unpleasant side effects, choose a cream that’s suitable for your skin type. It’ll replenish all the moisture your skin has lost, lock in hydration, and protect it from the harsh winter weather.
Cucumbers & tea bags
These are the oldest tricks in the book to fight puffy eyes, but they still work like a charm. Their refreshing coldness is able to reduce the swelling and puffiness, while their high concentrations of antioxidants provide some anti-ageing benefits too.
Fake It
Getting your skin back to its healthy, glowy self, can take time. In the meantime, you can fake it. An illuminating foundation, such as Chanel Vitalumiere, gives skin a gorgeous, youthful glow. A salmon concealer, such as Benefit Erase Paste, does wonders at hiding dark circles. And there’s nothing better than a touch of peachy pink blush to revive the complexion and give it a healthy look.
