How To Plan Your Day Like Beyonce

Beyonce is the ultimate role model, she’s at the top of her game every single time, she tries new things (and smashes them), owns her mistakes, balances her family life, spends time with the people that are important and keeps a level head. That’s a tough thing to do, but she manages it, with serious self-discipline, with humility, and with the help of Blue Ivy and her disapproving looks. She pushes herself harder than any woman in the world, which is why she’s constantly on top of it. She wants to empower women, be her best self and do the things that nobody thought she could, acting, singing, dancing, producing and directing, releasing a clothing line, she’ll put 100% into everything she puts her mind to, and we can learn a little something from that.

We researched an average day for Beyonce (when she’s not on tour of course!) and filled in our Getting Stuff Done planner to match. We learned a lot about discipline from following Beyonce’s routine. Yes – you do have the same amount of hours in the day as Beyonce, and here’s how you use them…

6 AM

WAKE UP AND PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Even on a Sunday, Bey gets up at six and practices gratitude. Daily gratitude can help you be more positive, look for more things that make you happy, create more memories, and get more done. Beyonce always gets up earlier than necessary, so the first thing you need to do is wake up and decide how you want your morning routine to be. Do you want to focus on being grateful? Do you want to check your emails (like Chrissy Teigen does) or do some morning writing? Getting up earlier will give you time to do just that. You can use a notebook like the Make It Happen notebook to make the most of your morning, using it to write down your plan for the day, become more grateful, write your journal, and spend your morning like Beyonce. There’s a reason she works so hard, is so dedicated, and stays eternally positive, and that’s down to her morning routine.

7 AM

BREAKFAST

It’s no secret that Beyonce follows a plant-based diet. She does not have meat on Mondays but doesn’t stick to strict veganism unless she has a big show coming up. Her personal trainer Marco Borges, invented a 22-day diet that Beyonce swears by. “Having children has changed our lives more than anything else,” Beyonce and Jay-Z wrote in the introduction for the diet book Marco Borges created, “We used to think of health as a diet – some worked for us, some didn’t. Once we looked at health as the truth, instead of a diet, it became a mission for us to share that truth and lifestyle with as many people as possible.”

This diet includes loaded sweet potato, avocado on toast, peppers, and plenty of plants. But the one thing Beyonce loves about it is that it’s creative and that she’s never bored or hungry. Write down your daily meals in the Getting Stuff Done planner if you want to plan every meal from breakfast to dinner and snacks in between.

11 AM

WORKOUT

Beyonce’s workout is notoriously extra, it needs to be to keep her in the best health for her tours and shows. For the killer body, you have to put the time in which means that Beyoncé works out three to five times a week as well as doing up to nine hours a day of dance practice – in heels!

“I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] five-pound weights [for] the whole song and just try to burn out,” she says.“The truth is it’s a lot of sacrifice. It’s more about your mental strength than physical strength. You have to push yourself. It doesn’t matter what trainer you have. And it doesn’t matter what program you’re on. You have to be healthy and make the right choices,” She does a lot of muscle workouts, squats, lunches, tricep dips, weights, and treadmill work.

2 PM

WORK

Around 2 pm you can find Beyonce hard at work, in fact, she usually works all day and has confessed to being a bit of a workaholic. To counter this, she tries to give herself a weekend off, where she eats what she wants and spends time with her family. Of course, she still works out on the weekend, but it’s more about balance and staying sane by resting.

Whether she’s recording, writing, acting, filming, directing and producing or on tour with Jay Z, she puts her whole heart and soul into everything she does and makes sure that she gives everything 100% effort.

5 PM

FAMILY TIME

Beyonce’s family is super important to her so making a little time for normal routines in the evening is so important, whether that’s spending time with the kids, having dinner with her husband or spending time with her mother and sister. Her family is always around, in fact, her cousin was her assistant for some time, and having her family around her gives her a grounding influence when she’s working super hard. Making time for your loved ones is important, Beyonce made time to have a Valentines date with Jay Z while he was on a plane and she was miles away, simply video chatting with him. So you can make time for a call to your relatives, a check-in, and a date with your friends – it’s easy.

11 PM

NIGHTTIME ROUTINE

“I am a person who has a hard time shutting off my brain,” she told Owaves. To combat this, she keeps her schedule full of things. “If you are active during your day, you will be so exhausted you can’t help but fall asleep.” This is why she spends a lot of time working out, dancing routines, running, and staying fit. The more active she is, the easier it is for her to relax and rest in the evening. Relaxation and rest is important, but if your mind won’t switch off it’s important to schedule a busy and fulfilled day in your planner, and rest properly when the day is over.
