Having a fast-paced, busy life can sometimes cause distractions that may take our focus elsewhere. However, the key to becoming successful is managing how productive you are with your time. And all Career Girls know that this is important for maintaining focus. So, we thought we’d share our mini-guide on how to stay productive all week next week (even on Monday morning!), because we want you to be at the top of your game, always!
1. Eat a healthy breakfast
This may be a given, but think about how many times you say you will wake up and have breakfast, but in actual fact have a little extra lie-in instead. And think about the breakfast options you choose, too. Having a good kick-start to the day will ensure that your body and mind are fuelled for the day, which allows for a much better work performance. Try these breakfast recipes if you’re lacking inspiration.
2. Make a daily to-do-list
Writing things down on paper is known to help focus and clear the mind. The Getting Things Done planner is our way of staying on top of everything, and it’s launching soon so don’t forget to check it out here! Remember to make your lists realistic and achievable, I do this by breaking the tasks up. I like to do a ‘to don’t’ list’, which includes all those tasks that can be left till later!
3. Focus on one task at a time
After creating a to-do-list, it is then easier to see which tasks you need to complete and when. This, therefore, makes it easier to focus on one task at a time – something that’s very important in being successful. By doing this, you will have full focus on the one topic and will maximize productivity. Also, set a time limit on every task, which will keep you from spending too long on one thing!
4. Keep your work space tidy
Clear desk, clear mind! By getting organized and sorting out your work space, you will find it much easier to remain productive. Having a nice and tidy working environment massively increases performance, as well as minimizing any other distractions there may have been on the desk!
5. Schedule email checking
Let’s face it, your emails are open all day. Am I right? Checking emails is one of the biggest daily distractions that someone can face, especially in today’s era where we feel obliged to reply straight away! Organize your time so that there are a few intervals in the day to check and reply to emails. Then, you can spend your crucial time on the more important tasks.
6. Make time for reflection
At the end of each day, reflect on what has been achieved on the list of tasks and celebrate this. Keeping a positive mind will encourage productivity for the next day and this pattern will follow for every day. This is not to say that you should ignore uncompleted tasks though. Reflect on them and understand that you will need to work that little bit harder tomorrow or manage your time a little better.

Awesome tips.
I’m guilty of checking my emails all the time. I should probably try #5
These are really good tips. Especially scheduling email time. I get so distracted every time I see a new one pop in my inbox, no project every gets my full attention.

I agree. I was checking my email every time I got a notification. Now I only allow myself 3 times a day.
Awesome tips! It is so easy to get sucked into checking your email all the time. Definitely have to work on that!
