It’s that time again, girls. New Year’s Eve was a blast, but now here we are with a headache and a dry mouth, wondering what kind of selfies we took last night. If you’re looking for a quick cheat sheet way to reduce the headaches and all round not-so-nice feelings, here is our essential hangover guide.
Take some supplements
Willow bark or Feverfew supplements are natural versions of aspirin that are sure to come in handy. Naturopathic shops, pharmacies, and supermarkets should carry them, of course popping a couple of aspirin is a great way to make sure that your headache stays away but a couple of supplements taken with a big glass of water will make sure you’re feeling better in no time.
When you’re hungry, swap fry-ups for healthy combos.
Go crackers for bananas and honey; it’s a brilliant combo for hangovers. Honey is a high-fructose condiment that helps your body remove alcohol from its system and bananas ease nausea.
Add something to your water…
We’re talking about lemon, fruits, sparkling water, squash, whatever makes your mouth less dry and hydrates you. Try and drink more than you usually do, so you can flush those toxins out and replenish all that lost hydration.
Stock up on bath bombs
This one is better done before you start partying, trust us, there’s nothing that makes us feel better than a hot bubble bath with a fizzy, whizzing bath bomb inside. Bring your favourite book, get a bath tray and a cup of your favourite tea and just soak away all those weird bruises you got from falling over in your heels.
Give yourself a break
Drink some energy drinks (sports drinks help replenish lost electrolytes) and listen to your body. If you want a pizza, have one, remember that indulging on ‘bad’ foods every so often won’t do anything to you, plus you might need something greasy after your light banana breakfast!
On a hangover day you never want to do anything, so don’t. Make sure you’re free to lay on the sofa or the bed and watch movies all day, there’s nothing better than putting on those movies you’ve seen one hundred times or the ones you can never be bothered to watch when you’re in your right mind…
Whatever you decide, make sure to sleep! That is the best and easiest remedy of all. What are your go-to remedies?
