No matter how much you love your job, you’ve probably experienced the morning blues – your bed is so comfy, its raining outside, and you really don’t want to face the world. And if you’re not really a morning person, you might feel like this everyday, choosing the snooze button over a productive start to the day.

We know the struggle is real, so we’ve gathered our top tips on how to make your mornings as joyful as possible, so you can start the day (and week), feeling happy, relaxed, and ready to make some serious #girlgoals.

1. Plan your morning

It may sound fussy but planning your morning thoroughly the night before can have a huge impact, not only the next morning, but also on your nights sleep. Packing your bag, planning your outfit and making sure you know where everything is meant you can go to sleep feeling relaxed and organised and spend the next morning feeling relaxed and ready for the day.

2. Look forward to breakfast

One of our favourite ways to make each morning a happy one is to treat ourselves at breakfast. We don’t mean eating chocolate cake each day (although we would if we could get away with it), rather, making sure you have something you enjoy eating, that will also set you up with enough energy for the day. Why not make breakfast muffins or overnight oats the night before, for a very relaxed, but delicious breakfast.

3. Wake up half an hour earlier

It might sound like it will make you sadder rather than happier, but waking up just half an hour earlier can make all the difference in the world to your day. Imagine having plenty of time to shower, get ready, eat a nice breakfast and spend a little time doing something you enjoy, all before your work day starts. It’s all possible, and it only requires an extra half hour.

4. Don’t hit snooze

When you’re waking up half an hour earlier tomorrow, remember to stay away from that snooze button! Not only will it cut into your precious morning ritual time, but it will also leave you feeling groggier and more tired than if you’d just gotten up when your first alarm sounded.

5. Drink a large glass of water

When you think about it, the night is around 7-8 hours where you do not drink anything, meaning that by the morning your body is quite dehydrated. This is part of the reason you might wakeup with a headache sometimes. So the best way to kick-start your morning and get a big energy boost is to drink a large glass of water as soon as you wake up. You can prepare by leaving a fresh bottle or water by your bed the night before to make it extra easy to remember!

6. Stretch your muscles as soon as you get up

A mini yoga session or just a good stretch is THE best way to start your day, and not just because your muscles will need a good stretching out in the morning. It also gets your blood flowing, and will release endorphins which will give you more energy and make you feel less stressed and more positive. Just the things we need to start a productive day!
