Ashley Graham is a model with a difference, she shattered expectations of what a ‘model’ should be, standing up for curvy girls everywhere and living her best life. She’s a great woman to take inspiration from, especially as summer is approaching and messages of summer bodies are starting to float around. WAKE UP AND JOURNAL
Ashley sets the intention of the day with her favorite journal. She wakes up and decides what kind of day she’s going to have, setting out here expectations and trying to focus on positivity. It’s important for Ashley to start the day off on the right foot, by checking her emails and getting ready for the day ahead. She’ll also make a smoothie when she gets out of bed to take with her on the go, “My favorite blend is kale, lemon, ginger, beets, apple, and parsley.”
Getting eight hours of sleep is one of the most important things for your skin, body, and health. When you wake up, get your body ready for the day by giving it the vitamins and essentials you need.
“Ashley is a busy woman,” her trainer Dawin Pena told Women’s Health, “But that doesn’t mean she can’t get in a great workout in a short amount of time. Generally, we do weights with a high rep count and some calisthenics in between to get her heart rate up.”
It’s important to Ashley to workout as often as possible, “The greatest reward working out offers is knowing that when my body works out, my mind feels well,” she said in an interview with MindBodyGreen. “I’m not as anxious or irritated, and I’m calmer and feel more equipped to make good decisions about food and life in general. In other words, I’m not quick to snap on anyone.”
Ashley’s work routine is full on. Between modeling, TV appearances, guest appearances as a judge and more, her schedule is pretty packed. She’s often traveling around the world shooting and walking various runways, which leaves her away from home a lot.
She knows what she wants and Ashley Graham has spoken about the difficulties she’s faced in the fashion industry, “I have had to work harder than everybody else because of my size,” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK, “I’ve always had to suck it up. Has it been hard? I’d prefer to say that it’s been rewarding.”
A balanced diet is an important component of Ashley’s day, an average meal doesn’t contain much protein, “I will have a sweet potato and vegetables lightly sautéed with olive oil, or chicken with Brussel sprouts,” she told Good Morning America. But when it comes to balancing her meals she’ll just as easily have pizza or pasta and enjoy it, and eat a balanced diet the rest of the time.
It’s important to Ashley to grade her meals well, to eat a balanced diet and to make sure she does the best she can when it comes to her food. “I like to eat lightest to heaviest throughout the day,” she told GMA. “Fruit digests faster than anything so I want that in my body first. I try not to eat meat until night.”
Ashley Graham knows the importance of social time, spending time with her husband and her friends is important to her. In the evenings, when she can, she’ll meet up with friends and spend time with the people that matter to her. Being social comes naturally to Ashley and helps her balance her day and make sure that she’s staying true to the intention she set herself in the morning.
