What I Use To Get Ready For Work Every Morning

Beth @ CGD HQ

Getting ready in the morning is not a struggle when you have your favorite beauty products to rely on. My beauty regime takes anywhere between ten to thirty minutes depending on what kind of look I’m going for and how long I’ve stayed in bed (guilty!) but there are a few products I rely on every single day to get me ready for work.

We all rely on rituals to get us ready in the morning, so I want to know what you guys do to get ready in the morning, don’t forget to share your routine with me in the comments section! I have my morning beauty routine down to a fine art, here’s what I use.

1. My favorite morning moisturizer

After using the Charlotte Tilbury Magic cream in the evenings, I like to start the day with my favorite morning moisturizer Weleda Skin Food. Although it’s quite a heavy cream, I like to put it on the driest areas and let it sink in before starting with my makeup routine. This unassuming moisturizer is seriously amazing, for banishing dry patches and smoothing my complexion, Alexa Chung swears by it too. Buy it here.

2. An all-in-one color corrector

I swear by Stila one-step color correct in the morning, I’ve actually gone out without foundation and used this instead. It looks like something you’d find in Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory but it’s actually really cool. It evens your skin tone, brightens everything up, and conceals eye bags without leaving a trace of any color on your skin. Buy it here.

3. A quick lick of foundation

This foundation is a perfect match for my skin and the perfect five-minute application if I decided to stay in bed too long in the morning. I tend to avoid putting foundation on the driest areas of my face, so I usually use a clever beauty blender trick to apply it evenly on my face. You don’t even need much of this product to cover up! Buy it here.

4. The clever beauty blender trick

Since my skin gets dry after a while, I use a clever trick to hydrate my skin while applying foundation. First I spray my beauty blender with Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water, then I apply my foundation with it. The coconut water is so hydrating that it allows my foundation to absorb into my skin without drying it out, and it also doubles as a pollutant-protecting primer, so my skin is extra dewy for the rest of the day! Buy it here.

5. My life-saving eyebrow product

Ok brows are quite important to me, and I might not get them 100% right but I’m doing my best. What makes it easier for a noob like me is a product that gives my brows a little volume, color, and shape. I swear by the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz. First I groom the hairs with the little spooly and then I fill them in lightly with the soft pencil. Brow goals. Buy it here.

6. Velvet Noir

By now, you know my obsession with velvet noir. I’m sorry to keep going on about it but I love it so much. This mascara was made by the angels, I tell you. It lengthens and volumizes lashes, and is the best one I’ve ever tried. One or two flicks of the wand and you’ve got instantly awake, alert eyes and long lashes. Buy it here.

7. A red October lipstick

When Ellen and I were in Stockholm last year I received this true red lipstick from October Stockholm in my Glossybox and fell in love. It’s the only red lipstick I’ve tried that actually suits me, and it stays on for hours. It’s velvety and hydrating, a perfect red shade, and when I went for dinner recently my friend couldn’t believe I hadn’t touched it up by the end of the night! Buy it here.
