Inspiring Documentaries Every Twenty-Something Needs To Watch

We all love to chill with our favorite shows, but sometimes real life can be stranger and more inspiring than fiction. Here are just a few of our favorite documentaries at the moment, watch and be inspired…

This lady is an icon in the fashion industry, because of her unique style. Iris is often consulted by big labels and warehouses because of her exquisite taste and special eye for art. This documentary shows her as an all-round expert in beauty and design. Even at 94 years old, she’s still working. If you do what you love, going to work should be a privilege. Besides that, you’ll get a great view of her life, work, and home. As she wisely says, “The greatest fashion faux pas is looking in the mirror and seeing someone else.” Catch it on Netflix.

This super inspiring documentary follows girls from around the world trying to better their community through technology. The code is about to be rewritten, as 5,000 girls join the challenge to design an app and win $10K to complete and release it. Fast-paced and heartfelt. We love it.

Long before Beyonce sung about hot sauce in her bag, Miss Simone was a big vocalist – not only for jazz music – but also for the rights of African Americans. She provoked her audience and lost a little of her popularity because she stood for her principles. It takes courage to be yourself, especially when it means making sacrifices. Besides, it’s a great way to spend your evening watching live footage from Nina.

This documentary shows the struggles of the Women’s Movement in the late 60’s, and early 70’s. Nowadays it’s easy to call yourself a feminist (equal rights yay!), but girl power started in the early 60’s. We’ve all seen the black-and-white footage of girls burning bra’s, and holding clever signs, and this documentary puts it all in a bigger picture.
