At just 15 years old, this talented, amazing girl boss who most of know as Willow Smith is a girl who, although quite young, has proven that talent, hard work, passion, and a sense of humor and individuality are enough to earn you a place of success in the world.
“Famous-ness is awesomeness… but some parts of famous-ness can be hard,”
While many of the life lessons she embodies seem simple, they are often overlooked by many in today’s busy, crowded, and often stressful society. Below are three inspiring life lessons taught to us through words and actions by Willow Smith, the girl whose bubbly, happy, hilarious, and kind nature spreads to all who she speaks to.
Be kind, even to those who don’t like you, and vice versa.
Willow Smith understands this concept better than most. She embodies the theory of kindness without discrimination, and once said, “If you don’t like me, if you like me; both are equally cool. I send love and positive energy to all those people in their lives. I hope they find where they’re meant to be”, and this is something all of us should practice. Even if you don’t ‘mesh’ or get along with someone, you can be a positive influence in their lives.
Follow your dreams and work hard.
Putting in hard work and passion will make it easy to accomplish anything, and working towards even your wildest dreams is something that should be done regularly! “I feel like I’m making a difference. I feel like putting out a message for young girls to follow your dreams and just work at what you want to do and be yourself,” said Willow, and this quote not only demonstrates what a great job she’s doing with her talents and social power, but also what an amazing person and inspiration she is to us all. Encourage others to follow their dreams too.
Don’t downplay your uniqueness and who you are.
While most of us want to fit in or be ‘normal’ or ‘cool’, Willow knows that staying true to your most authentic self will make you happier in the end: “I have the motto that says, ‘Whatever you see in your closet that you like, pick it and wear it.’ It’s not just your closet, but just your life. Whatever catches your eye? Pick it.” This applies not only to your closet, as she says, but to your life. If you love something, whether it be knitting or baking or writing or even collecting Christmas socks, do it. If it makes you happy, it’s worth it.
Overall, Willow Smith is someone who understands way more about life, happiness, truth, and success than some almost twice her age. Trying to embrace the life lessons that she has explained and displayed countless times is something that will take practice, but in the end, will make you happier and a better person.
