Inspiring Quotes From Actress And Humanitarian Salma Hayek Pinault

Salma Hayek Pinault is more than just an on-screen star, as well as being a director and producer, she’s won a variety of awards from Glamour’s Woman of The Year Award to Knight (Chevalier) of the National Order of the Legion of Honour in 2011.

She recently co-founded Chime For Change with Beyonce Knowles-Carter and works hard to raise awareness about violence against women. Here are some inspiring quotes from Salma.

“If you enjoy the process, it’s your dream. … If you are are enduring the process, just desperate for the result, it’s somebody else’s dream.”

It’s often hard to tell the difference between a dream you want for yourself or a dream you’ve been pressured into accepting. You have to find your own path and follow it.

“I’m not just going to be the pretty face that disappears. I’ve learnt how to produce, to direct, to write. I’m not disposable so easily anymore. When I am 60, I can keep directing. I have the potential to really, truly have a voice that makes a difference.” Salma is an inspiration in that she knows what people say about her and that for a while her worth as an actress was defined by her looks, but she knows there is more to her than the way she looks and isn’t afraid to say it.

“Isn’t it sad? In our world, women also don’t support other women enough — how often do we really work together to make a difference? We are sometimes so vicious toward one another. We want to be independent women, but we really don’t know who we are as women. It’s about us taking control, because we tend to just blame. We complain about the world, but we are still not loving toward other women.” It’s so true that women are often quick to judge or blame other women in the pursuit of success, but at CGD HQ we believe in empowering all women and celebrating their successes, even if you don’t agree with them. We’ve written articles about the ways that Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian inspire us, even though people were outraged by the idea. If you don’t like someone just say, “She’s not for me, but I can appreciate what she’s doing well.” Life is much better with positivity.

“Yes, I’m beautiful … I am beautiful and famous — and yet the things I like about myself have nothing to do with that because I don’t use wealth and beauty to define myself”. Another truth bomb from Salma, if your dreams are focused on wealth and beauty, you’ll be sadly disappointed because neither last forever. Your wealth won’t grant you happiness, and your beauty will fade with time. Focus on the things that you really value and take a leaf out of Salma’s book, be confident in your abilities!

“Dreaming big is about taking the simplest thing in life and enjoying it — and seeing it as the biggest thing that can possibly exist.” Your dreams don’t have to be unachievable, start with the small steps, what have you always wanted to do? What do you enjoy on a daily basis? Can you expand that into a big dream? If you can, you should!
