Meghan Markle is still very much in front of our collective brains at the moment. And now more than ever the Duchess is influencing every area of our lives, to our fashion choices to the foods we eat.
And as inspiring as she is, it’s lead us to wonder what she eats in a day that gives her the energy cope with being the wife of the Prince, devoting herself to charity work and constantly being on the go.
If there’s one thing we do know, it’s that whatever you put in your body it should be to give you maximum energy. Once you do start eating for energy, rather than say, pleasure then you’ll really start to notice the difference.
Meghan is really careful with what she puts into her body. She enjoys running and blueberry smoothies to stay in shape and cuts out gluten while filming. By doing this she’s noticed a huge difference in her skin and appearance.
And who better to take advice from other than the woman of the hour, Meghan Markle. She always has been a major foodie, loves Caribbean food and especially, Tignanello. In fact, she loves it so much that she named her website ‘The Tig’ after it. So, if like me, you’re looking to upgrade your diet and eat just like a Duchess then you need to check out exactly how she maintains it all…
1. Wake Up: Start The Day with Lemon Water:
Start the day with hot water and lemon and like Meghan, you’ll be reaping the rewards. And while you may know that lemon water is really good for you, you might not know that it has more than one benefit. It’s perfect for keeping yourself hydrated, it aids digestion, is weight-loss friendly, supplies your body with an overload of Vitamin C, will give you a potassium boost and will keep your body clean from the inside out!
2. Breakfast: Steel-Cut Oats with Bananas and Agave Syrup
Not only does it look delicious, but it is definitely a good, healthy way to start your day. A meal like this is high in fiber, which will aid your digestion and is very filling, so you can expect to be full right up until lunchtime. If you want to take this the extra mile, like Meghan add in some Almond Butter for that extra dose of energy!
3. Lunch: Salad with Protein
Meghan keeps it light during lunch and so should you. You may be hungry at this point but keeping it light and friendly is essential for getting you through until the end of the day. For lunch, I would personally recommend fish as a protein to have with your salad, either salmon or tuna. Fish is really good brain food due to its Omega levels and it will make sure your brain is active for the rest of the day.
4. Afternoon Snack: Apples with Almond Butter & Green Juice
This is Meghan’s secret trick to boosting her energy mid-afternoon. And it really works. Almond butter with apples is certainly a tasty treat that will engage your mind and ensure you stay productive until the end of the day. It’s the perfect source for Magnesium and Copper, which will keep up your energy levels.
And the green juice will give you the healthy boost your body needs! We also liked to hear that she sees green juice as a necessary evil. Nobody loves drinking green juice right? Meghan has a “food-as-medicine philosophy” about it. Taking it because it’s good for her, not because it’s tasty. Of course, you can upgrade your green juice to the realms of acceptable taste with a couple of choice ingredients. But we imagine Meghan’s is packed with leafy greens.
5. Dinner: Pasta with Zucchini, lots of Parmesan and a glass of Vino
In fact, she has a hack for that zucchini pasta sauce, so if you want to make a seriously sexy pasta sauce over the weekend for your pasta goodness, all you have to do is slow-cook zucchini for four to five hours. As Meghan says, “The sauce gets so creamy you’d swear there’s tons of butter and oil in it, but it’s just zucchini, water and a little bouillon.”
