I bet you guys are just like me. I always take on too much to impress, I’m juggling sixty million things at once, and I’m trying to keep my head above water. You may not be able to get out of this easily, but the one thing you can do is change your mindset. By following this simple phrase and its rules you’ll find yourself getting through that pile of work the right way. So how do you program your mindset for success?

‘Work smarter not harder’

Successful Career Girls already know how to do this, and it’s a rule they live by religiously. They know that when their days are filled with to-do lists that keeping getting bigger that they don’t have time to waste exhausting themselves. They’re confident in their approach. They know their work is going to get done, and they know they’ll still have energy for the pub afterward! See how you can too:

Be on top of your time

Time management is one of the most important factors because it works in line with how you prioritize. And if you’re not prioritizing properly, then you’re going to burn out quick. Abandon all thoughts of multi-tasking, because it will steal your focus and slow you down! Stay away from your phone, schedule in your emails for after. And most important of all, set yourself a realistic deadline.

Take a shortcut

Speed up your typing! Sometimes your mind can go too fast, and your fingers can’t keep up. That thing you wanted to write down, it’s gone. It’s not only this, but there are keyboard shortcuts that you can do to save yourself clicking around trying to find something. Taking the time to learn these can save you in the long run!

Short breaks

I’m not saying to leave the office for fifteen minutes at a time, that’s unproductive. But short break bursts will keep your attention span focused and energized. Pull away from the laptop for a couple of minutes, have a splash of tea, laugh with a co-worker. But then just as quickly, back to the pile.

The to-don’t list

People are going to be adding and adding to your list as you go on. Sometimes, I always find myself doing a menial task because I’ve been asked as I’m going along. I think that it’s quick. But no! You’re already distracted. Don’t take your eye away from your to-do list. Shove the unimportant ones over to your to-don’t list, and when you’ve done your most important tasks you’ll be able to focus on the less important ones.

Don’t fall victim to the domino effect!

When one thing goes wrong it sets off a domino effect to all your other projects. Your mindset has changed, you’re flustered and out of control. But, if one thing goes wrong don’t be paranoid that the rest of your projects will. This is your chance to make up for that failure, not wait for the next one.
