7 Things You Should Do Before 7am For A More Productive Day

We’ve all been there, you’ve hit snooze six times and now you have ten minutes to drag a brush through your hair, maybe apply mascara, and grab a coffee before running out the door. But, come on Career Girl, that’s no way to prepare for a successful day and you know it! Take time in the morning to prepare, both physically and emotionally, for a productive day

1. Wake up earlier

It sort of goes without saying, but if you wake up earlier, you have more time in your morning to wake up and prepare for the rest of the day! Instead of rolling out of bed twenty minutes before you need to be at work, try giving yourself an hour or two at least to prepare your mind and body.

2. Drink lemon water

The health benefits of drinking lemon water are endless, and it’s a great way to wake up your body and kick start your metabolism. Before reaching for that morning coffee, down a full mug of hot or cold lemon water!

3. Eat a good breakfast

It’s the most important meal of the day for a reason. Getting a good breakfast fights the mid-morning and afternoon hunger, plus, it actually helps you eat less at night (no more late night brownie binges). Make sure to get a good amount of both protein and carbs for energy that will get you started and last until lunch!

4. Sweat it out, girl

Working out in the morning is a great way to get going, whether that’s heading out for a run, or just doing some light yoga. Get that blood flowing and heart rate up! Move that body!

5. Clean your space

Clean space, clean mind. Take a few minutes to pick up, make your bed, do the dishes, or any little chore that leaves your space clean and uncluttered. You’ll feel more prepared for your day knowing that your personal space is tidy. Plus, you won’t have to come home to mess and curse at it!

6. Set your intentions

Take a few minutes either with meditation, reflection, or just sitting and thinking about how you want your day to go and what you want to accomplish. Focus on more emotional and internal goals like showing kindness, and having a positive attitude. You’ll feel more emotionally prepared to tackle that to-do list!

7. Make a To-do list

Speaking of the to-do list, it’s time to jot down everything you want to accomplish today and prioritize what’s most important! Then, you get to go about your day crossing off tasks! Is there any feeling more rewarding than a completely crossed-off checklist? I don’t think so.

  1. I love this! Having more time for myself in the morning is something I just started to get into and so far I am loving it. It really takes so little to get your head in the right frame of mind for the day.

  2. The first paragraph is SO ME. I have tried to become a morning person for so long and just haven’t been able to. I think that cleaning in the morning is such a good idea, because it’s a way of getting some activity in without going overboard (my body does NOT like to work out in the morning, it feels too crunchy). I think ‘before 7am’ is still a little optimistic though… :p

  3. The warm lemon water works. Since I own a coffee shop, it would be bad for business if it got out that I prefer warm lemon water…. so I give myself permission to drink morning coffee when we’re in a busy season. I don’t feel guilty during coffee time, and I look forward to lemon-water time. I try to include one day of fasting solids during lemon-water time to feel super good. Thanks for the article, I enjoyed all of it. Now to finish the rest of the zine. Have a great day! Linda

  4. Deffo agree with waking up earlier. I’m trying this thing this week where I wake up an hour earlier and start each day doing something that I love (which is art). It’s crazy how the first thing you do in the morning can affect the rest of your day and your mood!
