5 Successful Women Share Their Morning Routines

Have you ever looked at some of the most powerful women in the world and just thought how do they do it? It’s a common question that comes to mind when we see our favorite inspirational ladies smashing their goals and keeping the balance.

For some of us, working through our to-do lists is enough! But these are the women who look after their homes, raise their children, workout before work, smash their targets and still have time to look good.

And it’s women like this I envy, women like this I want to be. But the secrets to their success is planning ahead to make sure their days go to plan and to schedule. So, how exactly do they structure their mornings?

 

1. Jessica Alba

At 5:15 AM Jessica’s alarm goes off. As a mother, getting her kids ready is important, but she also tries to make time for a morning workout. She’ll prepare herself a strong coffee or a green juice with a spoonful of coconut oil to get her going, and then go to a hot yoga class.

She tries to work out every day for 45 minutes, usually in the morning. Like most of us, she hates it, but once it’s over she says she feels so much better. Once she’s back, showered, and getting ready, she’ll try to do a five-minute face featuring her Honest Balm and then leave the house.

 

 

She finds herself mostly in or out of meetings and gets very hands-on with the creative process and decisions of her company, The Honest Company. But because she is mostly in meetings she has to be smart with managing her time in order to go through her to-do list.

Jessica’s tip: Make time to work out before you start your day, it can help you process everything you have to do and get you ready for the stressful day ahead. “I get good ideas working up a sweat”.

 

2. Jen Atkin

If you don’t know, Jen Atkin is the founder behind our favorite haircare, OUAI. She’s the top hairstylist behind the big names like the Kardashians, Chrissy Teigen, and Bella Hadid. She balances three hair salons, a list of celebrity clients and her own product line.

Between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, Jen wakes up. And although she hits snooze a few times, she finds time to rouse herself and check her phone before she gets up. It’s important for her to keep up with all her projects, including Mane Addicts and The Beauty Works hair extensions, so she goes through her email first thing.

 

 

To motivate herself to get ready she listens to hip-hop music, then reads WWD to keep up with all the latest business news, and drinks English breakfast tea with almond milk or a smoothie. After her morning tea and catch-up, she’ll head to Barry’s Bootcamp.

It’s important to Jen that she works out first thing before she loses the motivation. Once she returns, she’ll shower and change and use a SK-II face mask while she preps herself for the day ahead. She has a shared Trello board with her team, so spends a lot of time catching up with them and checking her shared calendar before she leaves between 9:15 and 9:45.

Jen’s tip: Get up earlier than you have to. “If I’m trying to go work out, it’s gotta be a 6 AM wake-up. I go to Pilates, I love Barry’s Bootcamp, I love Modelfit, which just opened by my house. I like to mix it up. I use ClassPass so I never get bored.”

 

3. Charlotte Tilbury

Makeup artists to the stars and the owner of her own bestselling makeup brand, Charlotte Tilbury is the woman to be! She starts the day at 6 AM and begins to get ready for the day.

Although she’s a fan of a full English breakfast, Charlotte swears by starting each workday with a glass of hot water and lemon and avocado on gluten-free toast. She makes sure to season her avocado with lots of chili and pepper for the full benefits to her skin and body. She’ll eat with her kids and usually takes some time to check her emails, make some calls and plan her agenda.

 

 

She thinks it’s really important to visualize her day before she leaves the house, and swears by daily acupuncture and vitamin C drops. She can also be found browsing Instagram every morning before heading off to a Bodyism class to stay in shape.

Before she heads out for meetings at 8:30, she’ll get ready with her own products, especially the Magic Cream, and even use Jen Atkin’s Ouai products.

Charlotte’s tip: Enjoy every day. “I wish there were more hours in the day. Sometimes you’re tired but makeup can hide everything. It’s really important to enjoy everything – you’ve got to make it fun.”

 

4. Alessandra Ambrosio

Alessandra gets up by 7:00, usually without the help of an alarm clock. Of course, there will be days she needs to be up at 5:00 AM but on an average day she gets up and prepares breakfast for herself and her children. Usually, this breakfast consists of fruits, eggs, or something equally balanced. She loves to eat an avocado with freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice, and boiled eggs browned with coconut oil. She also loves a big cup of coffee.

Before she does anything she works out. It’s obviously a huge part of her life as a model, so she does yoga, pilates, and The Bar Method every day. She makes this a part of her routine and won’t accept a no from herself. It’s part of her daily routine.

 

 

When she returns from a workout, her getting ready routine needs to be under 30 minutes. She uses an eyelash curler and concealer to wake her up and keep her face looking natural before she heads out the door. Before she leaves she makes sure she’s started making lists, whether it’s grocery shopping or new ideas for her clothing line. This time of the day, after a workout is a fresh and inspiring time for her.

Alessandra’s tip: Get organized. “I love what I do, and if I’m organized, there’s time for it all.”

 

5. Isabella Boylston

Isabella Boylston currently performing as a principal with the American Ballet Theatre. This lifestyle has to be strict and regimented, and she regularly puts herself through a tough workout with ballet dancing. It’s no surprise that her routines are important to her if she expects to stay energized and push herself to the limit.

She tries to get eight hours sleep every night. Getting up at different times for different engagements means she has to go to sleep with 8 or 9 (on show days) hours to sleep. Her alarm goes off around 8 AM. She starts the day by washing her face with cold water, moisturizing and doing a light makeup.

Before she heads out the door, she’ll make breakfast of eggs and avocado, or make an iced coffee with coconut creamer. If she’s in a rush, she’ll grab it on the go, but make sure to stay as healthy as possible in the morning. She listens to music as she walks to her studio, and starts the day with a warm-up – which is basically her version of meditation and a workout, and a great way to energize herself.

Isabella’s tip: A good morning starts the night before. “The main way I take care of myself every day is by sleeping enough the night before – it’s huge!”
