The last thing you want to do on a dark morning (or evening!) is start working out. I mean, at this time of year, gym membership drops to an all-time low, partly because we want to go crazy and eat our entire weight in Christmas foods, and partly because we’re all broke thanks to Christmas shopping!
You need a bit of motivation to keep going, this is how to get it!
1. Forget your excuses
There is no reason why you can’t workout at home. You are in the warm, in your own surroundings and you’ve got privacy. We rounded up the best YouTube workouts you can do from home, the ones that actually don’t feel like working out – so there really is no excuse!
2. New Clothes, Obviously!
Any excuse buying new workout clothes! Treat yourself to new leggings, trainers or long sleeve thermals. You will be warm and on trend! Nothing new clothes can’t empower you to do! Check out our gift guide for fit girls if you need some inspo on what to ask for/buy for yourself.
3. Try the hair washing trick
Some people only wash their hair on days that they work out. This way if you notice you need to have a shower, you associate it with working out and are more likely to do a quick 30-minute workout or run before jumping into the shower.
4. Put on your workout clothes no matter how you feel
The act of changing out of your gear without actually working out will make you feel so ashamed. Plus, once it’s all on it has this magical boosting power that just makes you want to get up and go.
5. Write down how you feel after a workout
There is nothing like reading, in your own words, how amazing you feel after a hard workout. So when you seriously can’t be bothered, all you have to do is open up your notebook and read your own high praise. Motivation enough to get exercising.
