The “no makeup” makeup look is the best. Especially for us career girls. It makes us look effortlessly chic, takes only a few minutes to do, and works both for the office and the party afterwards. And it’s surprisingly easy to do. Here’s how you can nail the “I just woke up like this” look:

Step 1: Even out the skin tone
High coverage foundations are out. The “no makeup” makeup look is all about letting your natural beauty shine through. So, choose a tinted moisturizer, like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF20. It’ll keep your skin hydrated throughout the day, even out your skin tone, and give your skin a healthy glow too.
Step 2: Conceal That Blemish
Unless you’re already blessed with flawless skin (if so, what’s your secret?!), you need to hide those pesky blemishes that always appear at the worst possible times. Using a pointed brush, apply concealer (our favourite for this is Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Concealer). Don’t forget to apply some on the undereye area as well. It’ll make you look fresher, like you’ve just woken up after a restful night of sleep. Then, set everything with powder to make sure it won’t crease halfway through that important business meeting.
Step 3: Cut that crease (naturally)
Applying a light neutral eyeshadow on the crease is a great way to add definition to our peepers. The trick is to use a shade that’s just slightly darker than our skin tone, so it’ll create a shade that’ll naturally sculpt the eyes. Make sure it’s matte too. Shimmers are pretty, but they don’t define the eyes as well.
Step 4: Define those beautiful eyes…
After curling your lashes, it’s time for mascara. I like to use Maybelline Great Lash. It lengthens and separates my lashes, but the result is very natural. You can hardly tell I’m wearing mascara, which is the whole point of this look, really.
Step 5: … And those unruly eyebrows
Eyebrows can truly make or break a look. So, let’s make sure they look polished. Start by combing them, and then fill them in. One of the best products for this is Tarte’s Amazonian Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel. It lets me tint and set my brows at the same time. What a time-saver!
Step 6: A natural flush
Nothing says healthy like a pretty pair of naturally flushed cheeks. Fake it with a cream blush. They look more natural and are so easy to blend. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion is a favourite. This muted warm pink looks great on any skin tone.
Step 7: Juicy lips
We’re almost done. Time to paint those lips. A sheer, highly hydrating formula, like By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Nude in Sheer Glow is perfect. Its coral shade melts into your lips, and works with your natural lip colour to create a unique, flattering shade.
