No-makeup makeup looks are perfect for when you’re trying to achieve the type of fresh-faced appearance that suits any season.

Essentially, trying to attain an appearance where you’re looking barefaced requires a bevy of products that will grant you the look of perfect skin, brighten your eyes, add a touch of color to your complexion and softly define your face in all the right places. So yes, there’s still a lot to work with and work on.

We know it can be hard to master this seemingly simple natural makeup look, so here is a breakdown of the products you’ll need to accomplish the no-makeup makeup look.

natural makeup lookIt’s all about that base

Getting your base right is important for this look. Using a heavy product could defeat the whole purpose of the no-makeup makeup look, so use something which has a lighter formula. A tinted moisturizer is a great way to warm-up and even out your complexion with little effort. The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is perfect for the no-makeup look. Available here

Why it works: It’s a cult favorite and promises to give lightweight flawless coverage while providing your skin with hydration and a finishing glow.

Que a huge sigh of relief! Yes, we can still use our beloved concealers to achieve this makeup look. You can use your regular concealer with a very light hand and finish off by tapping the product into your skin with your finger. However, if you’re looking for a concealer to achieve this look, I would recommend the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage concealer. This is an ultra-lightweight luminous concealer which is buildable and provides a demi-matte finish. Perfect for a barely there look, but can give you extra coverage where you need it most. Select a cream blush that is soft in colour and complimentary to your natural skin tone. The Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé gives a subtle pop of colour to the cheeks whilst providing a luminous finish and also works to hydrate, smoothen and soften the skin- everything you need to ensure that your skin has the radiant glow which no-makeup makeup looks are centred upon. For those of you who can’t resist highlight and contouring, I recommend Clinique’s Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight and Contour products. These creamy sticks can give you some soft facial definition without too much fuss. Use the Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight across cheekbones and other high points of your face to bring luminous light-reflecting optics to the skin, and use the Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour to create subtle illusions of depth to the hollows of your cheeks, temples and along your jawline. Apply a neutral eyeshadow which is close to but slightly deeper than your skin’s natural colour and apply it to your crease to enhance an area which is naturally darker than your lids. You can choose from natural eyeshadow palettes like Tarte’s Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette, but you can also opt for cream shadows such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes To Mesmerise which add a natural sheen to your lids while mimicking your skin’s texture.

Then use a brown eyeliner pencil to lightly define your eyes. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Whiskey is a matte rich brown shade which is easy to blend and can be used along the waterline as well as across the lash line to add some very elegant drama to your eyes.

Top off your eyes with a lightweight mascara. Go for products that are unlikely to clump and provide good definition to the lashes without looking obvious. Use Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara to achieve a lifted, curled and separated look.

In going for an au naturel appearance, keep brow filling to a minimum. Instead, use a tinted brow gel to comb through your eyebrows and be sure to deposit most of the product through your arch as this is where your brows are naturally darker. Use Benefit’s Gimme Brow volumizing eyebrow gel to achieve effortlessly groomed brows. Available here. Available here

natural-makeup-lookPowder

Using a setting powder is pretty essential in tying your completed look together. It will help with setting your makeup of course, but it will also ensure that everything is blended seamlessly and that harsh lines are taken care of. I absolutely love Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish powder, which contains super luxe micro-fine powder with soft-focus nano particles that effectively blur away lines and imperfections flawlessly. It’s an extremely weightless setting powder which has an illuminating finish and is completely cake free. Amazing, I know. Available here.

natural-makeup-lookLips

When it comes to lips, opt for hydrating products that enhance your natural lip color. Lip stains are best for natural makeup looks and YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain is a fabulous product that sits between a gloss and stain but applies like a creamy lipstick. Available here

These products will set you on your way to no-makeup makeup stardom, just remember to use a light hand and a soft touch. May the odds be ever in your favor on your no-makeup makeup venture, good luck!
