Need A New Classic Lip? Here’s Why Pink Lipstick Works For Everyone

Did you hear? Pink lipstick is the new red. This classic shade is having a major comeback this season. And deservedly so. With just one swipe, it brightens up our faces, taking us from shabby shy to flirty chic. It’s the kind of shade that makes us feel instantly pretty. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to pull off. Not convinced? Here’s why you need a pink lipstick, or two, or three, in your makeup bag:

#1. Pink lipstick is easy to wear

Don’t feel comfortable rocking a sexy red or a vampy purple? Pink lipstick is for you. Much easier to wear, it’s sweet and fun without ever looking too bold or over-the-top. It’s the ideal shade for both a day in the office or a night out on the town with your girlfriends.

#2. Pink lipstick complements any look

We all know how difficult it is to pair bold smokey eyes with an intense red lippie. That’s a trick only makeup artists seem able to pull off! If you don’t have all day to get ready, forget the red, and swipe on the pink. Perfect. You can also pair a soft pink lippie with a romantic wash of pink eyeshadow for that sweet girl next door look. Feeling bold? Brighten up your face with a vivid fuchsia hue, like MAC Girl About Town. Keep the rest of the makeup simple. You don’t want to overdo it.

#3. Pink lipstick suits everyone

It doesn’t matter how old you are or what your skin/hair/eye colour is, there’s a pink lipstick shade for everyone. If you’re a pale princess with cool undertones, choose a blue based pink, like Butter London LIPPY Moisture Matte Lipstick in Primrose Hill Picnic. A medium beauty with warm undertones? Opt for something warm and fun, like OCC Lip Tar in Matte Cha Cha.

Blessed with olive skin? A fresh pink with coral undertones, like Maybelline New York Color Sensational in Coral Burst, perfectly complements it. Darker damsel? Bold magentas, like Avon’s Ultra Color Bold Lipstick in Fearless Fuchsia, are made for you. Prefer something softer? No problem. Give your lips a soft wash of colour and shine with Maybelline Super Stay 14-Hour Lipstick in Perpetual Peony. You’ll look angelic.

Bella, I’m sure you can. :)

I love pink lipstick but I don’t think any shade can suit anyone. For instance the Barbie Pink shade is a big NO for me

Camille, I think it depends on the undertones. Some shades have more blue in them, others more orange, and so suit different skin types better. You just need to experiment a bit to find out what suits you best.

    I totally agree with this.
And the best thing is: with the rigth shade of pink on the lips my eyes just look a bit more blue, more intense.

Christina, it’s incredible what a good pink lipstick can do, isn’t it?
