Music is one of the most basic and amazing ways to instantly boost your mood, feel happier, and overall, increase your productivity. Listening to feel-good songs has countless benefits for your emotional, mental, and even physical well-being, but even more amazingly, it can boost your levels of productivity immensely.
Many psychologists have posed questions and conducted research on whether music definitely affects your mood. In addition, they have done research on how your feelings while doing work affect your final product (as well as how much work you get done!).
The research has shown that being in a negative mood will decrease your productivity as well as negatively affect the quality of your work. Hearing songs that make you feel happy will almost instantaneously affect every aspect of your work positively (as well as making you feel better about working!). Here is a list of 5 songs that instantly boost my mood, as well as some places to discover some amazing new cheerful tunes!
#1 Bungalow by Scott Helman
#2 Rollercoaster by Bleachers
#3 Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
#4 Geronimo by Sheppard
#5 Happy by Pharrell Williams
These songs are only a small sample of featured tracks on my favorite “Good Mood” or “Happy” playlists. One of the best places to find new (and happy!) music is Spotify. An amazing feature of Spotify is the Discover Weekly playlist. This is a playlist cultivated by the app and completely unique to you. It scans through your music and creates a playlist of new songs (and some old). It’s an amazing way to discover new music, and it updates weekly on Mondays.
Another great way to find happy, mood-boosting songs is through apps like 8tracks. Users create “mixtapes” or playlists that you can search by any keyword for playlists, and searching for things like ‘happy’ or ‘good mood’ or ‘good vibes’ will yield an infinite number of options to choose from.
Finding music that makes happies is a great way to boost your mood as well as your overall work quality and quantity. Playing these songs before and during your work will pump you up and put you in a good mood as well as doing the things above, and playing them afterwards will help you relax and stay in a good mood! So grab your headphones and let the music play; you will be overall happier and everything you do will feel the positivity!
We have to admit that here at CGD HQ we love a bit of dance music and our guilty pleasure for motivation is Justin Bieber – by far the most searched name on our Spotify app!
