We’ve Got This! : New Year’s Resolutions Of The CGD Team

The beginning of a new year is an exciting time, we get to re-focus our goals and decide what will be important to us next year, while some of the magic and excitement of a fresh new year (who knows what will happen this year?) is around. We’re always focusing on the things that matter and discussing our goals at CGD HQ, so here are our New Year’s resolutions!

Happy New Year, girls!

Beth, Managing Editor CGD

‘Last year my goal was to be more fearless, and I focused on it all year, which led me to amazing things, like CGD, whenever I found something that scared me, I would jump straight into it and I learned that it’s perfectly natural to be scared but you shouldn’t let it hold you back. In fact, I’ve learned so much this year, partly from the CGD team and partly from you girls, our readers, I’ve learned more about my own sense of style, about confidently networking and about having fun while balancing a shed load of work than Uni ever taught me.

2015 was probably the hardest year in terms of work for all of us, we really worked our butts off, so what you see here isn’t just the product of a couple of hours work, it’s more like days, weeks and months of working at weekends, at parties, on holiday, in the early hours of the morning and late at night. We’ve all worked so hard and we’re still learning what works and what doesn’t, which is great. And the hard work will continue in 2016, but now we feel more equipped to deal with it and we know what we should be doing with our free time (hint: relaxing!)

This year my goal is to be more disciplined. I prefer to have a wide goal so that I can feel more like I accomplished it at the end of the year, for example, I want to work out more in 2016, have a more structured work day, focus on my creative writing again and get some time to be spontaneous. At this point anything could happen in 2016, I never would’ve thought half of what happened in 2015 would have been possible, so I’m ready to jump, skip and hop straight into it!

‘Wow, this year was like a dream! What I learned this year is: ‘If you can dream it you can do it‘. Neglect the people who don’t believe in you and follow your dreams.  It’s your life anyway…The path to success is not always that easy so walk the talk. Make a plan and just go for it! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Trust me, you will make many. The key is to learn from them and become better and better..

This year we went on trips, won an amazing award (thanks to you girls), created the most amazing team and I had to pinch myself sometimes to realize we’re really doing this!

My personal goal for next year is to take better care of myself. This means actual quality time with my loved ones.  Having a great career is all fun and stuff, but try to cherish the moments with your loved ones! As much as I love my job my main goal is to create a healthy balance between my job, my personal life and my overall health. I really think that’s a big challenge!

This year was a true roller coaster! I think I never learned and developed this much in any other year. It for sure was a stressful year with many ups and downs, but if I look back, I couldn’t be more proud. I have experienced how important it is to have people around you that love and believe in you and even more how important it is to believe in yourself. By learning that “No is not an option” and removing “I can’t do it!” from my life, I truly believe that 2015 was a valuable year.

I can’t wait to see what will happen in 2016! My main goal is to really make the “No is not an option” and “Everything is possible” mentality my own in every single aspect of my life! I am going to enjoy this roller coaster ride that I am on, try to always stay mindful and focus on the positives.’

@Celina – you’re comment ‘Neglect the people who don’t believe in you and follow your dreams.’ is really great advice, something that I’m working on this year too.
