5 Books To Read Before They Become Movies Next Year

@maria_bernad

If there’s one thing I love, it’s reading. But if there’s one thing I love, even more, it’s reading books that are going to be made into movies. It’s like a tradition for me, I always seek out the books that are going to be made into major blockbusters. Not only do I love to see my favorite reads come to life, but I love to compare the versions to see what’s better. More often than not, it’s the book, but there are sometimes where the film adaptations outdo the originals. So will you join me to see what’s better? Who knows, we might not even agree…

1. The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells:

This book isn’t exactly new to the market, but if you haven’t had the chance to read it yet then I suggest you do before you see Johnny Depp stars as the main character in the movie in 2018. The book follows a Dr. Jack Griffin, who is trying to research a new drug. However, it is this potion that turns him invisible – but there are some major side effects one of which being insanity. So, I’ll let you imagine what comes next and with anything starring Johnny Depp, you know it’s not going to be one to miss! Buy it here.

2. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken:

This won’t be your usual, easy Sunday night read but if you love Stranger Things, then you’ll probably love this book. There has been a disease that had killed 98% of America’s children with only 2% who survived. But the surviving 2% of them are a little different from the norm. They’ve developed superpowers. And a 16-year-old has just escaped the camp that contains here. It’s due in cinemas next September, so you’ve got plenty of time to read it and be hooked! Buy it here.

3. The Black Hand by Stephan Talty:

Now, I must admit I wouldn’t have picked this book up on my usual book haul. It’s not something that I thought I would like. But, since I found out that Leonardo DiCaprio is producing and starring in Talty’s true story of the very beginning of the emergence of the Italian mafia in America. It’s meant to be a little like Sherlock Holmes (which I love), as an NY cop goes after this ruthless gang – I’m guessing that might be Leo?! And now I can’t wait. Buy it here.

4. All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven:

I must admit, I can be guilty of reading a YA novel from time to time – especially when it’s a good tear jerker (I can’t help it). And this is exactly what this novel is! The two main characters meet when Violet, a teenage girl, finds Finch on top of a Bell Tower. Finch is determined to die. But young love might not let that happen! The trailer is enough to get you a little choked up and the movie is certainly one I’ll be secretly watching! If this your guilty pleasure, buy it here.

5. Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer:

It’s this adaptation that I most keen to see. It’s going to be starring Natalie Portman and directed by the guy behind Ex Machina! Four women are to enter Area X to investigate – there have been eleven expeditions previous to this that have all not ended well at all. But now, the thriller reaches it’s highest point as one of the women, a biologist sets out to this mysterious area to find out what killed her husband. Intrigued? Buy it here.
