The One Thing Healthy Girls Have In Common

You know that feeling when you promise yourself you’re going to do something, and then just never do? It leaves you feeling unsatisfied, guilty, and a little bit annoyed with yourself, right? Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all do it. Outside factors get in the way. In the morning I may have been motivated to work out later, but after the work day, I cannot even muster the energy to walk home, let alone make an effort to work out. But you know what, the healthiest girls all have one thing in common – and it’s their mindset.

Think about it, if I’m walking home telling myself over and over I have no energy, of course, I’m not going to be in the mood to work out, but if I just switch it on its head I might be able to smash my goals and never leave anything undone! So here’s how to get that healthy girl positive mindset!

1. Never say no!

After a long day at work, the wrong mindset tells you that you can’t do it, that you’re too tired. If you want to be healthy and fit, instead of saying ‘no’ to evening workouts, get excited for them. Missing a workout is just as important as missing work. It’s important not to limit your progress, and realize even though it hurts at first, you’re actually being kind to yourself. You’re a woman on a mission, and you’re not going to let your own mind get in the way.

2. Don’t linger at the starting line

No one is perfect. We don’t start off amazing fit girls, who can workout without even breaking much of a sweat. It’s going to be hard. It’s supposed to be, and no you won’t see the results you want overnight. The right mindset tells you it will never be as hard as yesterday. Changing your mindset to one of success will stop you getting stuck at the starting line.

3. Recognize the pay-offs

In order to change your mindset, you need to celebrate every step. It works to keep you motivated. If you’re only looking out for the milestones then you’re going to get demotivated easier. They can feel so far away and out of reach. But if you, instead, focus on your small steps towards this, you’ll be way more encouraged. I’ll celebrate my fourth workout in a row, for example, by buying something on my wishlist or booking a trip. Or give myself a treat day on the weekends. We’re only human after all!

4. Create positivity

I can sit here easily and tell you to think positive, you may think no brainer, ‘I would if I could.’ But that’s the problem, it all lies in the ‘if.’ Healthy girls don’t wait around pondering ‘what if’. Because if you don’t have a positive mindset, you’ll never be able to stick to living healthily. Don’t wait for positivity, create it. When you hear a negative voice in your head, flip it around and make it a positive one. If you hear yourself saying “I can’t do one more push-up,” change it to, “What if I do just one more push-up?”.

5. Keep track of your goal

FitBit Charge 2 Special Edition Wireless Activity & Heart Rate Tracker available here.

You need something to motivate you when you don’t have the power to. Off days happen, so when they do, be prepared. I personally love using my FitBit to keep me on track, it’s like your own personal fitness coach (that shames you when you miss a streak) and calculates all that walking you do too! My mindset is ready, and now I’ve started getting addicted to challenging my friends, which helps me so much! And when you see that progress, all these points come together to create the mindset you’ve been aching for.
