Here’s How To Make A Living From Blogging

Photo Jazzabelle’s Diary

It seems like everyone has a blog these days, and it can sometimes be pretty intimidating jumping into an over saturated market, especially when everyone seems to be doing it better, for longer and cooler than you – but trust us, you can make money from blogging. If you need more tips, check out these websites every blogger should follow!

1.

Make your blog great!

Networking and social media are really important in the world of blogging, but the best advice we can give you is to ‘fake it before you make it’. In other words, truly amazing web design will speak for itself and make you appear more professional. You can invest in a fairly cheap template or hire a web designer, but make sure you’ve weighed up the costs with your projected income. Try out one of these recommended courses for bloggers if you need a little boost before you launch.

2.

Find your tribe!

I often hear people telling bloggers to take a look at popular blogs in order to find out what it takes to become a successful blogger. In some cases, this may be a great idea, but in the end, successful bloggers are successful because they’re unique. Sophia Amoruso’s success came in part from faking it, she started on Ebay and in her book #GIRLBOSS she details how she did her own photography and started up with nothing but made it look like she had more.

In fact, when we sat down with a chat with Rosie, the founder of The London Fashion Agency, she remembered the times when she would work solely from her bedroom and tell clients that she’d just come straight from the office! Her top tip was that it’s all in the execution, so make sure you execute your ideas well and look the part before you are the part, check out the full interview here to find out more about running a business from your bedroom!

3.

Try out different ways of making an income.

You can’t start out and have a monetized blog, but you should have a plan on what products or services you want to launch. Having products and advertising can be great ways to turn your blog into real money. My biggest advice would be to not focus on one source of income. Try to rely on as many sources as possible!

  1. Cool tips, Apart from one bit I beg to differ. Instead of Faking it, why not do your research, share other’s success and mention it. Be You but Project Such Confidence in your product. Its Called Posture. And Always share Value, come from a place of service and you will attract your tribe.
I definitely agree with MSI…Multiple sources of Income. It is doable. Thanks for shining the beacon for new bloggers.

  4. I’ve been blogging for 5 years now, I’m not even focused on the money. All I want is people to enjoy my content but I feel no one does though. I say this by the views, it won’t stop me from blogging, but that’s my only concern. Thanks for this post though, it was very insightful!

  6. Great post! I just started my blog and have been trying to make it appear as professional as possible – although I did use a free wordpress theme, and I may need to upgrade soon since I’m to 100% happy with it!

Definitely agree too on having an end “product” to sell if your goal is to monetize – I’ve been toying with the idea of an ebook, but I also feel like online courses could be a really neat way to monetize and help create a tribe for the blog!
