This Is Why You Should Reveal Your Guilty Pleasures

Everybody has guilty pleasures. It’s what gets us through the day, whether it’s spending money on shoes or watching way too much Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Sharing your guilty pleasures with friends or co-workers is funny. It might feel a bit odd to admit to singing to yourself, but it actually makes people relate to you more.

We decided to share ours in the office and see if it worked. Some of these are quite surprising…

Beth, Managing Editor

I really love reality TV. It’s so absorbing, dramatic and fun. A great way to escape from real life. I love The Only Way Is Essex and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I’m not even ashamed. I also always film my makeup routine and never post it. You should see the amount of videos I have in my Snapchat memories.

I also like to come home and spend half an hour on my PS4 if I’m feeling stressed. It started when I was a little kid and had a Sega Megadrive. My Dad and I would play Super Castlevania and Joe and Mac, and then growing up, before my sisters were old enough to play with, it was just me and my brother so we’d play games together all the time. Now I know the best way to relieve stress is to play games – also, I love kicking my guy friends asses at Mortal Kombat.

Lois, Sales Director

I have a lot of guilty pleasures so, to be honest, I don’t even know where to start.

Whenever I get ready for an evening or day out, I tend to turn up the volume, take my brush and unleash my inner Beyonce. I literally sing, dance, pretend that I am in a video clip or on stage and have my own little party. I got busted by my cousin once, who was peeking through the door and just saw me giving a whole show away (never have seen her laughing that hard). Since then, I always make sure that I lock my door.

Celina, Creative Director

Call me crazy but I love to have conversations with myself…

From speeches in the shower (one day I will win that important award – and it’s important to be prepared when that happens) to pretending I am filming a YouTube tutorial. Maybe I have a longing desire to become a YouTube star, I don’t know. What I do know is that’s is quite therapeutic to teach my non-existing audience my daily makeup routine.

Sophie, Editorial Assistant

My not so surprising guilty pleasures are loving trashy television programmes (yes, I love Jersey Shore. Fist pump, pushup, chapstick!) as well as spending waaay too long and using London’s entire water supply in the bath, just until my body resembles a prune. Perfect.

My not so usual guilty pleasures make me look like a geek, or a retiree. My geeky side loves computer games and anime – I always have done. I think I spent a lot of my childhood playing Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega Mega Drive and watching DBZ. I won’t go into too much detail. The old person in me loves bird watching, there’s nothing I love more than watching the birds in my garden, it’s so relaxing – I also like to play chess!

My guilty pleasure has to be all the TV programmes I watch when my boyfriend isn’t around – from weepy stuff like Greys and dramas like Scandal to full on trashy telly like Teen Mom! I just found the second half of season five on NowTV and bingewatched 10 episodes in two days haha! No shame!
