This year it’s all about living longer and being HEALTHIER, if you’ve been keeping an eye on the news lately you know that the emphasis is on getting more of what we need, whether it’s sunshine, water, or exercise.
Here are just a couple of things that every Career Girl should try to do this year!
Go for a run
Running is definitely a great exercise choice. If you do it right it doesn’t even feel like working out and it can help you clear your mind and boost your blood flow, reducing your chances of heart disease and other health problems. However, it can also make you smarter. According to scientists, there is a direct link between running and cognitive clarity. Exercising has been proven to stop the brain from ageing and therefore can keep illnesses like dementia at bay. So if you want to work better in the office and stop your brain from ageing, it’s time to don those running shoes!

Surround yourself with plants
In our article on having a happy home, I talked about the benefits of adding plants to your house. Now, science has come out in full support of surrounding yourself with leafy pals, it could actually extend your life! Women in greener areas tend to live longer (Source) and suffer less from illnesses like depression, which could be to do with plants reducing Carbon Dioxide levels that are found in big cities – but could also be because your environment has a direct impact on the way you feel.
Track your water intake
Everyone knows you should drink water, right?
Well, it’s been in the news again the past few days because doctors are now thinking the amount of water you drink should be tailored to suit you, and that most people aren’t drinking enough. Often, we don’t even notice signs of dehydration in ourselves (my skin was telling me for months that I wasn’t drinking enough!) but if you keep a glass with you and try to drink 8 a day for a week you’ll see what could happen.
People who track their water levels claim that regularly getting enough water was the only thing that helped them lose weight and made their skin plump, full and glowing.
Try a 30-day challenge to drink more water – I’m documenting the results of day one right now!
