Skin Care Tips For Girls Who Commute


My commute time will be doubling later this year when we move further away from the city, and it’s got me thinking about all the damage commuting can do to our skin. When you consider, stress, heat, crowding and poor air quality, commuting might not be doing any favors for our dreams of a perfect complexion.


So, what’s the solution? These quick tips will make sure you’re protected from the environment, and keep your skin looking healthy and happy.

1. Double cleanse

After a day of commuting, you want to remove all the dirt and product build up from your pores. You can do this by double cleansing your skin. Start by using a purifying cleanser like Tata Harper Skincare Purifying Cleanser, and double it up by using my favorite cleansing device, the FOREO Luna. This routine will strip your skin of pollutants and dirt that accumulate throughout the day without stripping your skin of essential oils or hurting your skin.

2. Drink more water

Drink even more water than usual. Take a bottle with you on your commute, you need to replenish the water in your skin cells to ensure it doesn’t dry out and get flaky. It seems simple but it’s the key to glowing skin even when you’re rushing out into the cold and taking the subway/tube/train/car to work.


3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

In the evening, you need to replenish lost moisture and protect your skin. The day-to-day environment can be harsh on your skin, and the sunnier it is, the higher the pollution levels will be. So if you want to protect yourself from aging, and skin damage, choose an overnight moisturizer. My personal favorite moisturizer is Charlotte Tilbury magic cream, no other night cream comes close to gently protecting my skin. 4. Protect yourself from pollutants

The most important step in your commute-friendly skincare routine should be protecting yourself from pollution. Although double cleansing will remove most of the dirt and grime, if you don’t have a ‘shield’ on your skin, pollution will cause faster aging and skin damage. Eek!
