These last few months of the year are always so busy. If you’re not planning parties, choosing outfits, smashing your work and health goals and trying to work on your New Years Resolution in the meantime, you’re probably forgetting to take some time out and create some small rewards for yourself.
Giving yourself a much-needed treat will improve your productivity, boost your focus, and make you feel more positive. You don’t need a super long time to relax and relieve stress either, here are a few ways to treat yourself like the queen you are!
1. Go for gold

Everyone’s go-to to relax is a hot bubble bath. How about making yours a little more luxurious with the addition of a crushed gold face mask? Sounds good right? I absolutely love this one by 111 Skin, it was formulated in Harley Street and I usually use it before a big party or event, but it’s great if you want to treat your skin too. If I’m feeling drained I try to balance it out by looking for something different I can sign up for over a weekend. Trying new things might not feel like a treat when you have to get up and actually get started, but the science says pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is the best thing for you.
It will give you the ability to adapt to new changes and give you a reminder that you can cope with anything life throws at you, making the next few months a breeze – no matter what kind of stress creeps up on you.
3. Time wasted is never wasted time
I once heard that you should have three hobbies. One to make you money, one to keep you fit and one that you simply enjoy. I don’t know many people that have time for one hobby let alone three. But I do believe it’s important to do something for the sole reason of good old-fashioned fun.
We have it ingrained that everything we do needs to be constructive to help build our careers and reach our potential. There’s nothing wrong with spending the afternoon doing something just for you. Painting a picture (badly) or starting to write that book. With such busy schedules, our unproductive hobbies often get left behind, but always remember – time you enjoy wasting is never wasted time.
4. Be a tourist in your own area
Sometimes, you forget what the streets around you look like. Especially when you spend a lot of time running to and from places, boarding trains, and trying to get to your next destination. Every once in a while become a tourist in your own area. Walk around and notice things. Natural light and plants will boost your mood while taking a slow walk will help you to refresh and relax.
Go into stores or cafe’s you never usually walk into. I have a friend who always makes the most interesting conversations with strangers in stores, reminding me that sometimes the little things can make you feel heaps more positive, giving you a mood boost for the rest of the day!
