Sofia Vergara is beautiful, funny and witty. She has a body most twenty-somethings would kill for (I would!) and she’s super successful. All in all, she’s goals. And representing for Latin America. But she made some mistakes in her twenties that we have all made. And now she’s paying for it.
“I wish I would have worked out earlier,” she told InStyle magazine. “Now, it’s hard for me because I don’t have that built in my system. It’s not part of my life.” Uh-oh! You mean to say the super fit Sofia Vergara struggles with working out because her body isn’t used to it? Oh. No.
I struggle with working out. Don’t we all. It hurts. But it’s over as soon as you’re on your cool-down. Sofia struggles for longer, because her body doesn’t bounce back as fast. That’s what happens as you get older, but it doesn’t make you any less fit. I think it’s a warning to us all, we need to kick our own butts in our twenties rather than just leaving anything until later.
I really need to remind myself of this, in fact, after work today I am going home and I am working out! No, it’s not comfortable, but the alternative is struggling later.
Research suggests that every extra minute you can work out on a treadmill lowers your risk of heart disease by 12 percent and lowers the risk of death by 15 percent. So working out now could just save your life! What more motivation do we need?
But that’s not all. Ever beautiful Sofia has another regret, “I also wish I had used more sunblock. In the ’90s, in Miami, we were in the sun all day long!” Take a minute to look at Sofia’s skin. It’s pretty good, right. Imagine how much better it could be if she’d actually taken care of it in her twenties. Luckily, this is something we’ve all wisened up to. We are so much better at knowing how to take care of our skin and nourish it. If you aren’t using moisturizer and SPF daily, you might want to start!
Do you have any regrets? I regret not taking advantage of the days when running around with a football and dancing didn’t make me severely out of breath! Share your health regrets with us in the comments below!
