5 Spring Beauty Tips Every Girl Needs To Know

Spring is finally upon us, the sun is shining here at CGD HQ and we are dreaming of working outside. It also means that we need to take a little extra time to plan our beauty routine in the morning, especially if the heat causes our favorite foundation to slide off our face and our nail polishes are more suited to gray rainy days than cheerful days of sun. Here are some surprising tips for spring that you probably haven’t heard of.

Opt for a natural shine.

While it’s tempting to pick up your favorite winter highlighter, in the gleam of sunlight it can look too overdone – especially when your face is already picking up so much light from the sun. To combat this, simply dot a few drops of a highlighting oil like Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse on the apples of your cheeks. This will avoid that ‘sweaty’ look and add a hydrated glow.

Get matte lips.

Prime your lips with a pore minimizer like Skyn Iceland Pure Pore Minimizer for a natural, matte lip look. The healthy, glowing look is really key in spring and summer, so grab a lip liner that’s only one shade lighter than your natural lip color to pull this look off properly.

Less contour, more bronzer.

Will contour ever not be in? This season try to apply bronzer on the areas where the sun will naturally hit your face, so across your nose and on the apples of your cheeks. Don’t overdo it, you don’t want an orange stripe across your face – a hint of a good bronzer like Hourglass Luminous Bronze will make you look as if you’ve caught the sun in a very natural way.

Try a lip stain.

Following on with the theme of natural beauty, lip stains are very in. They allow your lips to have color with low-maintenance and effort and worn well can definitely exude a kind of Parisian, cool-girl chic. Try Milk Makeup Lip Marker for that cool girl vibe, just don’t get it confused with your normal highlighters.

Fight hay fever.

Hands up if you love warm weather but hate itchy eyes and hay fever? A lot of us suffer from it, and it has the tendency to ruin even the nicest of BBQs. Combine your antihistamines with a beauty routine that works by looking for anti-inflammatory ingredients in your favorite products. Georgie Cleeve, the founder of Oskia, says “Butterbur is a fantastic ingredient to look out for if you suffer from hay fever. It’s a known antihistamine that’s been used for centuries to soothe irritated, inflamed and itchy skin, making it perfect for calming redness around the nose area.” Butterbur can be found in OSKIA’s Get Up & Glow Serum.

Great tips! I’ve never been into contouring as I have pretty pronounced cheek bones as it is and contour makes me look a bit alien-esque haha. But I’m all for bronzing it up! :D Great tip with the highlight- I never even thought of that!!
