You must identify with some of these struggles of ambitious women. Balancing a fab career and a great lifestyle is tough, and women are always expected to be the caretakers of family life, thankfully those assumptions are getting to the point of being outdated but there are still a lot of struggles we go through as ambitious women. This post isn’t meant to highlight them in a negative light but to remind you that we all know the struggles, and there’s nothing more powerful you can do than band together with other ambitious women and share your struggles!
Those moments of self-doubt, although you know you have amazing accomplishments and know your worth, are normal. It’s normal to sometimes think someone will take it all away, or that you don’t deserve it, or that you’re not good enough. This is one of the most common struggles of ambitious women, our own minds!
BEING CALLED A B*TCH
When you are assertive you are often called a bitch. It’s sad but it’s true. If you’re trying to get something done or being assertive about something, people will think you’re a bitch, while if you were a man, you’d be called a go-getter.
BEING TOLD YOU CAN’T HAVE IT ALL
Although I am not quite sure what people mean by ”all”, I am sure we can have it!
Even though it might be years away, people already start asking questions about what I am going to do once I am ready to have kids (I can barely take care of myself at the moment, so just let me be and I am sure everything will work out in the end).
Those ‘Wow, you are bitchy today, you must be on your period’ or ‘You get coffee since the kitchen is where you belong anyway’ comments still happen nowadays. Although some are meant as a joke, for some women this is not funny.
BEING PITTED AGAINST OTHER WOMEN
If there is a position I want to have, I really don’t care about genders, competitors are competitors. We want to be the best in what we do, and there is no gender in that. If someone else is interested in the same career as you, watch how other people instantly think you both hate each other. That’s not true. It happens in the media all the time!
