Check the condition
Check the condition of your hair, if you rarely use dyes or heat on your hair then it should be in pretty good condition and will only need a little boost to protect it. If you are a dye addict, particularly using bleaches, or regularly straighten or curl your hair it might be quite damaged and could be in need of a professional cut!

Comb in the shower
A good way to reverse any damage is to use a leave-in conditioner and comb it through with a wide-toothed comb. If you have particularly dry or damaged hair due to chemical treatments or heat damage, use an extra strength conditioner targeted specifically to your problems and leave on for extra time.

Blast your hair with cold water
At the end of your shower use cold water to close the cuticles of your hair and lock in moisture, this will prevent cuticle damage and help to stop split ends.

Be kind
Be kind to your hair, don’t tug or pull at it or treat it badly. If you must dye it, reward it afterwards with a silky leave-in mask and use a weekly treatment or heat protection serum to keep it silky soft.

Take vitamins
Your hair could be dry or damaged because of a lack of vitamins or fibre in your body. Take supplements if necessary, but check out our no fuss guide to beauty supplements first to make sure you’re clued in!

Blow dry nicely
Make sure you’re blow drying your hair the right way. I usually leave mine to dry by itself but if I must, I grab my wide barrelled brush some heat protective serum and the nozzle of my hair dryer and do exactly what the seven minute blow out says!

Treat your hair like an expensive, one of a kind luxury accessory. You might not have hair this gorgeous forever so treat it and keep it for as long as you can, you can also use great natural ingredients on your hair such as avocado and egg to lock in moisture and reverse any damage you’ve done. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Bloglovin to stay up-to-date with everything us CGD girls are up to and to be the first in-the-know with our amazing updates and giveaways!

  1. My hair’s been slowly on the way to getting back to it’s curled up undead glory as I’ve stopped all heat tools, brush it in the shower, and use a damage serum thing. However, the split ends that exist of course are still there. And as I’m traumatized of hairstylists :( – My hair has gotten quite long and they all just hack it off – I don’t know what to do now :(
