4 Ways To Stay Healthy When You Sit At A Desk All Day

8-10 hours days behind a desk and staring at a screen is probably one thing most of us have in common. As career girls, we spend a lot of time sitting behind our desk. And although it sounds like ”just another desk job” it can do serious harm to our bodies. So, whether you are experiencing wrist pain, lower back pain or a tight neck, here are some hacks to survive sitting in an office all day.

#1 Go for a short walk

According to several studies, you should have a little walk every 20 minutes after sitting behind your desk, which means that you need to get up and wander around the office for a little bit approximately 16 times per 8 hours shifts! Make it your own little round in the office, but try to make it different each time, or you might end up being the office weirdo that walks by every 20 minutes.

#2 Don’t spend time behind your desk during your break

Guilty! It is so simple and easy to just have your lunch at your own desk, especially when you don’t feel like socialising with colleagues, but it’s so bad for your body. Go outside for a walk or do something where you don’t have to stare at a screen (so no staring at your phone for an hour as well!) or sit in the same position you are doing all day.

#3 Stretch it out girl

This is one for off the work floor and maybe a brilliant idea for some bonding time with colleagues. Start your day with some stretches and end your day with it as well. Treat yourself to a good workout mat and maybe even propose weekly yoga classes or an office masseuse to your boss, to improve the health, productivity and performance of the team, there is no way she can say no to that.

#4 Tea time!

Have several small tea breaks with your office friend(s). There is nothing nicer than blowing off a little steam, giving your brain and body a little rest. So have your cup of coffee, green tea, hot chocolate or whatever gives you a little pep in your step, and go fully focused back to work.
