Here at CGD we love nail art, but we just wish it wasn’t so fiddly to dress our own nails in beautiful patterns and designs. If you’re as passionate about letting your hands do the talking as we are, read on to see our favourite nail trends for the hotter weather!
#1 Nudes
Nude nail varnishes never go out of style, muted tones of peach, pink and mocha look professional, classy and stylish. Look for glossy colours that dry quickly.
#2 Mattes
Matte polishes are back in, they’re hot on the runways and come in a variety of colours. For best results use a dark colour like burgundy or black, and use a base coat prior to applying your chosen matte.
#3 Negative Space
Nails that utilise negative space are seriously big right now, use a base coat and some tape to block off areas and then use a metallic or pastel colour to paint the nail, once the tape’s peeled off voila! You have amazing runway-worthy nails!
#4 Gold accents
Gold accents are always cute, add a dash of gold to a muted nude or dark colour for a classic but cute look. Adding gold transfers to block coloured nails is an inexpensive way to create a professional looking manicure.
#5 Colour contrasts
Colour contrasted looks can be pulled off by painted a muted tone first and sponging on colours afterwards. You can also marble your nails at home using a bowl of water and a set of different coloured nail varnishes.
#6 Messy details
Messy details are definitely in at the moment, all it takes is a little creativity and a willingness to get a little messy! You can use a nail art pen to draw squiggles or lines onto your already painted nails and add a clear top coat to get this look.
To really nail these trends (pun intended) it’s time to get out all your polishes and get creative. It’s so hard to paint your nails to a professional standard but with a bit of nail varnish remover and an open mind, anything can happen!
