5 Tips On How To Look Polished/Put Together All Of The Time

#1 Your hair
Nicely groomed hair makes not-so-expensive outfits look like a million bucks. When your hair isn’t done, any outfit can look sloppy. But a nice blowout takes outfits from drab to fab. Make sure to get a good hair cut – color is not always necessary especially if you can’t keep up with the touch ups. If you do decide to colour your hair, choose a color that is one or two tones lighter or darker than your natural color. Also, choose a hairstyle that works for your face shape and that’s easy to maintain.

#2 Know how to wear heels
Clomping around in high heels is a sure way to ruin even the most amazing outfit.

#3 Take care of your skin
If you do not have good skin, establish a skin care regimen that works for you.
Basic good skin care tips are to wear sunscreen, exercise regularly, sleep well and drink lots of water. Naturally, there are periods of our lives where we don’t have perfect complexions. Some of us are fighting zits. A good concealer helps mask those imperfections as a spotty face is distracting.

If you don’t have flawless skin. Try some natural looking makeup, just enough to cover any imperfections but never over the top. Of course, do not rely just on concealer for a smooth complexion. See a dermatologist if you run out of solutions.

#4 Take care of your nails
If you can’t keep your nail polish nice and not chipped on an everyday basis then keep your nails simple, short + have well-hydrated hands and no polish. Avoid nail art, fake or very long nails and painting your nails in different colors.

#5 Clothes
A nice bag and shoes make all the difference. You can easily wear high street clothes just make sure it fits and throw it out when it breaks! Iron what must be ironed. Wear clothes that fit and don’t show much skin plus a few pieces of jewelry.

#6 Accessorize
Accessorize your look with a pair of nice heels (avoid bright colors and loud patterns) and a classic handbag (Chanel, Prada, Hermes, Bottega Venetta etc) or when you don’t have the budget for a designer bag a nice quality handbag from Zara or any other high street brand.

To look Polish: to look like you’re from Poland
To look polished: to look put together

So sorry! Unfortunately, the typo still shows up on Bloglovin (blush). Nothing wrong with looking Polish though :)

I agree on the skin care tip. I am older then most here, 48 and in the last couple of years I have been focusing on taking really great care of my skin, so if I have to head out with the kids and don’t have time for makeup, my skin still looks great. I have been talking to my daughter about the importance of taking care of your skin at a young age and you will reap the rewards as you age. Also the water tip, I can really tell when I haven’t drank enough water, my skin looks dull and some wrinkles that I do have are more prominent. Water plumps up your skin and makes it dewy. Sunscreen, ladies, sunscreen.

Thanks for the tips Sheri! I’ll make sure to carry a bottle of water wherever I go :)

What does it mean, “you can ususally wear high street clothes…”

All really good tips!!! I think where I struggle the most is with my hair! It has it’s own personality and tends to look boring. I haven’t managed to find a hair cut which is just quick dry and go, maybe one day! For my nails I use soft tones, so you don’t notice that much if some bits are breaking, it tends to last 1 week. As for the skin, lucky me I have flawless skin, so that’s a step I don’t lose that much.

These are great tips! On days where I don’t feel like putting too much effort into getting ready (or if I simply don’t have time), I love adding a quick swipe of colorful lipstick. It glams up any outfit! xo Lisa

These tips are kind of lame, like your pretty much saying “if you don’t have a expensive clothes and a designer bag. . .” comb your hair, wash your face, and file your nails. Most of us know this and most of us don’t have the budget for Hermes bag, and “classic handbag” is kind of vague. I recommend you brush up on your “tips”.

I’ve never said you can only look polished with a designer handbag or expensive clothes. Less is more, it’s pretty basic and you can look stunning even with a handbag from Zara!

Im so sorry this is going to make me sound like a jerk probably but shouldnt the title say “how to look polished” with an ed at the end?? because without the ed i thought you meant how to look like a person from poland.

Haha Claire, don’t worry about bringing it to our attention. The typo is fixed but unfortunately once something goes out to Bloglovin’ it stays forever! :o xx

The tip about the hair is so true! I can have the perfect outfit and makeup, but if I don’t have my hair done then I feel terrible. But I’m so bad at keeping my roots looking good, need to get better at it!
